who cares what other people think, do those people drive a tC maybe they are jealous..? who knows... get what you want for YOUR car. IMO I would take the TYC tails off and order the TRD springs and TRD shocks to go along with the rest of the package you ordered. Should look great!

I'll chime in with another "Who cares what other people say?" Are they writing the check for your payment every month? Are they out there washing and drying and polishing every weekend? No! Let them drive their cars that are nothing but overblown advertising hyped up crap.

I went through the same thing years ago with my 89 Supra. Mustang this, Camaro that, my Corvette is the fastest, whatever. Think about this: Drag Strip, 1989 Supra Turbo Worked, Corvette Z06 all nice and shiny, Supra with no carpet and only 3 gauges, inline turbo 6 vs. the "ultimate American sportscar". Who do you think got their feelings hurt that day? A $7000 Toyota destoyed a $50000 Chevy. Three consecutive passes sub 10.00. The Vette could never crack 12.00. And I drove the Supra home from the track and to work the next day.

Spend you blood, sweat and tears on what you desire. Let others do what they want.

By the way, what's wrong with Ricer? The fastest production cars ever built were never American and they never had cutting edge stuff anyway. American manufacturers are bloated money losing machines that couldn't come up with an original idea if they tried. I would think you would want to distance yourself as far from that as you can.

I got pretty much the same options as yourself and all I get are compliments of how good my car looks. IMO, I would also add the TRD springs and shock & struts. Which brings me to the TYC tails -- You either love em' or hate em'. When I first got them, I was kind of sketchy about how it looks. They grew on me since then and now I love them. And yes, dont care what anyone else thinks of your ride.

It was EXACTLY what I wanted. . . it was perfect (except the colour, of course. I'm a BSP girl all the way). then, when you get it and they a ride, you say "aw, that's too bad!" and speed off

My friend Travis has a Scion, too. He told me "Don't get the spoiler, don't get the lights, don't get the tail lights." He just told me, "Dude, the only reason I said all that was because I didn't want your car looking better than mine!"

I've seen pictures of BSP with all the options I ordered, and it actually looked pretty awesome. enjoiles, do you have pictures?

dont listen to what others have to say about your car. its YOUR car. yes they have their opinions but its pretty much YOUR car. as long as you like it, then its all good.

its kinda makes me laugh how people can call a car with OPTIONS from a dealership "RICE" ... i think people over-use that word and it kinda lost its original meaning.

to mean. "RICE" is something ugly as hell because of cheap mods and an exhaust can that sounds like a lawn-mower with a bodykit thats half painted with spray-paint. hahaha

The TYC taillights for the tC, I'm not too crazy about, but I *do* have the TYC taillights on the xB, and I think they are a vast improvement over the stock xB taillights.

LED's have another benefit, which is that they illuminate slightly more quickly than incandescent bulbs when you hit the brakes. Its only about 0.1 seconds, but a car coming up behind you at 60 MPH covers 6 feet every 0.1 seconds, which can make all the difference. So in that sense they are definitely not rice.

We have the blue lights on the xB and I think not only are they not rice, they are actually handy for finding things on the floor. I wish I had them on the tC, and someday when I'm feeling rich I might have them installed.

The spoiler is a tougher call - It isn't seen by casual observers as particularly functional (giving downforce on the rear of a FWD car?) but then again the tC is very front-heavy (61/39 split as I recall) so making it closer to 50/50 would actually be beneficial.

So, long story short, ignorant people will say your car looks like rice, those who are not ignorant will not.

RICE is good for you.

With high nutrients, rice is a good source of insoluble fiber, which is also found in whole wheat, brand and nuts. Insoluble fiber reduces the risk of bowel disorders and fights constipation. Among other nutrients, rice is rich in carbohydrates, the main sources of energy, low in fat, contains some protein and plenty of B vitamins.

You can steam it, fry it, throw it and make krispie treats.

It costs pennies and can feed the world and rid hunger.

Embrace your RICE! REJOICE!

But seriously, Keep everything and worry only about what you think.

I have TRD sway, TRD lowering springs, TRD Struts, and factory option 18” Enkei EMS 7 spokes powder coated, all factory options from the dealer. The Kaminari body kit with the hood and rear spoiler option. This set up is not for everyone and for others it is the bomb. But is this rice? If it is then I’m a SCION ricer!

^^^

Normally I think giant wings like that look ridiculous, but for some reason that one works. Its just a hair over the top still but not that bad. The graphics on the side are bit much... maybe lose the skull and the "scionetics". Overall its pretty sweet.

Get it the way YOU want it. I have most of those options on my FM, and I'm going to get the TYCs too.
One of the best things my dad taught me early on was to not try and please everyone in the world.
1) It will never happen
2) You sell your soul if you try

Do what you want and enjoy it.
Seriously.

I think you got the right color for the tail lights.

Get what you like. It's the general trend of life, there are always naysayers and people who enjoy ruining things for others.

I act excited when my friends mention the possibility of getting a tC, but inside I'm wishing that they go with something else. Of course, that's what makes me want to do stuff to my car- the fact that there are two others at school every day.

no offense to the people on this boards but it seems that anytime anybody does anything to a tC, the tC crowd jumps in and calls it rice. dont go by what other people thing, go by what you think looks good. getting option parts from a scion dealer does NOT make your car "ricey" and anybody that does is an idiot.

Personaly, I don't like the TYC tails very much, just a bit too flashy. I prefer just some simple $20 tint overlays, much cleaner. I LOVE the pedestal spoiler, it make's the tc look loads better. The lights are a 10 minute easy as pie DIY but If you don't have the time, then I guess doing it at the dealer is the option to go with. As for the rims, they are WAYYY overpriced but do look nice. I'd just stick with the stock ones cuz they're smaller so you get better MPG and they look just fine, but if you really wanted different rims, you can get much better ones much cheaper than at the dealer. Overall, like evryone has said, it's your car, if you like it then thats all that matters. Sure you couldv'e saved some money here and there but it you want your car to be complete as soon as you get it home, then you made the right choice. Definately no where near being rice. Enjoy your purchase!

After reading what everyone has said, and after looking at tons of pictures on this site, among others, I feel so much better. When I went and ordered my car, I told the dealer "This is exactly the car that I want." I fell in love with the printout... and I knew I was gonna' love the car when it came in (been two weeks now by the way... getting a bit anxious!). I guess I've just been driving myself crazy over what everyone keeps saying. . . the reason I picked those options were because I wanted them... and at the time, I didn't give a damn what anyone else said. And I think that once the car comes in, and I get to drive it, and see it in person, it's gonna' change my whole outlook. Thank you guys so much for listening to me, and for putting my mind at ease... and I guess I understand now what a "ricer" looks like-- and my Scion definately isn't gonna' look like that. =)

As for the TYC tail lights... I saw these online and thought "No way would I put those on my car." But the second I saw them, I was like "Gotta' have them!" I like them, personally- and I guess that's all that matters. =) Thanks guys!!!
