Dilemma
Hey guys, I have a dilemma. Let me know what you think.
I took a test drive last wednesday of the Tc and I liked what I drove. That very same day I applied for financing I got approved. I haven't decided on the color at that point but I gave two options that I was looking at and told the salesperson to make sure it's in stock.
On saturday, I go down to Scion and pick the color that I wanted, dropped my down payment and was promised the vehicle on Thursday at 6pm.
Monday morning rolls around and I recieve a call stating that my color choice, although it appeared in stock is really in shipment and that it'll take longer (don't know how long) for me to recieve it. He misread the stock codes and thus the confusion. He offered that I come in and choose another color that's known in stock and in Hawaii ready to be prepped. The only thing is now I'd have to wait til Sat 7/17/04 to pick it up. So instead of Azure Pearl, I chose silver. Not my first choice, but hey, my current car is breaking down and I need one quick, and I do like silver as well.
He tells me that there are any more snags, he'll let me know, but if something comes up, he'll tell me. Thursday rolls around (date I was originally supposed to pick up my car) and I hear nothing. I assume that everything is going as planned and I proceed to process insurance for my Tc.
Now it's friday evening and I get a phone call from my salesperson saying that no preparation was even started on the car yet. He's saying he's confused about it as me and that his manager is personally looking into it. He promised to give a call at 9am that morning and tell me the status.
Now's here my question y'all; If the car isn't going to be available by the promised time. what kind of options do you think I should pursue? I have been carless for the past 4 days, and I had to bum a ride 30 miles each way to and from work. Should I take back my down payment and find another car (Sentra SE-r Spec V) was my second choice, or try to get some kind of accessory for free (subwoofer or something), or do I wait (is it really worth the wait?)? This is really ____ing me off and I think am more than understanding about the whole situation. Let me know your opinion guys... thanks

you kno what...im in hawaii too and i jus applied for financing............ive not yet got a word from them and they told me they'd call me back .....i kno how you feel and it ____es me off to because im waiting for a long ___ time and havent gotten an answer yet..........but still, i love this car.....by the way whos ur salesoperson...mines was ronald ching
Some of the confusion can be share by Scion itself as well as the Scion dealers. Luckily for me, me dealer got his first allocation car based on MY preferences, except no Side Air Bags which I decided to take the car instead of waiting 6-8 weeks for a "special" order.
Depending on how much money you have to spend on accessories, I only got the TRD exhaust and pedal covers which I really like.
Good luck with your car.....

Loon,
I would call 1-866-70-SCION and speak to a "customer advocate".
That seems to be the thing that everyone around here is doing for "false promises" from dealers.
Hope that helps, and may the force be with you brother.

I am a dealer here in Houston, Tx. and we are running into the same issue here. We have a customer put a deposit down then we have to wait 2-3 weeks for the order to come in. It kinda suks cuz we have a bout 40 orders but we are only going to be able to fill around 8 in July and hopefully the rest in August. You could call scion but they will only tell you what they have told everybody else, That the vehicles are in such high demand that the wait time is a bit more than expected. My advice would be to do the following. This would not benefit your dealer but it will you. If you have more than one scion dealer in your neck of the woods then go and leave a 100.00 deposit with several dealers, this way you will double and even triple your chances of getting one the quickest. You just wait till one of the dealers gets your order in first, then after you get it, you go and get your deposit back from the other dealers and you end up happy. If the dealer ask for more than 100.00 then tell them that you will just take your business to the other dealer that will take your 100.00 and you will see that they will be like ok we will take it. But don't tell them what your plans are. That way they will all work for you. I sell scions myself and have actually told some of my customers to do this that really can't afford to wait. Hopefully my orders will come in frist so I get the business but if not I know that my customer will be happy in the end cuz he/she will be driving and when my order gets there I can just sell it to the next person on the list.
Good luck.

They are in HI, and according to http://www.scionhawaii.com they have only 2 dealers, each on their own islands.
Loon, sounds like trouble in paradise. (

So my dealer wakes me up this morning (Sat) and tells me that my car definately isn't ready to be picked up today. He goes on to say that the VPC is backed up for two weeks and it's going to take a little longer, possibly Wednesday to be available for pick up. Then he says ALL Tc's being sold are taking 2 weeks for some reason. So I ask, "How come there was a flint mica ready to be taken by it's owner on the grand opening day?"(3 days after the test drive days) He didn't have an answer. I also asked, "What day did the person but the indigo ink?" To which he replied Saturday, and I retorted "So if it takes 2 weeks, how come that person picked it up on Tues, 3 days after he purchased it?" Again, he had no answer and just offered for his manager to call me up. I am just so frustrated I really can't think straight if you know what I mean. All kinds of thoughts are just running through my head becuase I don't have answers. Should I definately look at another car or should I just stick with these guys and another supposedly "pickup date"? I am thinking that if they try to make a promise for another date, that I should have it in writing and to put some kind of stipulation if it can't be fulfilled.
hope yoou get your car soon man...i have to wait 2-4 weeks for my tC (still in shipment) but thats because of the color/side airbags situation. i didnt have them check, but im sure there were a lot more tC's in stock. they also told me for the tC's they have in stock a wait of 3-4 days was the duration of the time it took to prep the car.

HOWEVER, this is a QUESTION FOR OTHER SCION DEALERS, is there an issue with Tc's that ONCE IT HITS THE DEALERS LOT it won't be delivered until it is corrected? IF SO, this MAY explain the 2 weeks delay BUT the dealer should have told you this. If not you are being hosed.
