Default Fix-It Ticket

I just got a fix-it ticket today for my turbo kit. Just wondering after removing it and letting the referee signed it. How much is the administrative fee here in CA going to be for emission violation. Thanks.

cops have books that show them what a stock engine looks like which sucks. if its a fix it ticket wouldnt it be just 10 bucks?

There's a law in Cali about putting a turbo in your own car? WTF?

anything modified under the hood you could get a ticket in cali. all they gotta do is tell you to pop your hood if they suspect something and bust out their book.

How can they do that? You should be allowed to mod your own car. What about if it comes with a turbo in it?

dam are you serious that sucks. i live in LA and havent had any of my friends or myself popped for turbo or swaps. at most they just ran the vin#'s to see if an engine was stolen. they can popped my hood coz my blitz intake looks stock and my apex exhaust has a tip less fancy than the stock one.

just to play it safe i would do some research and help you guys out. i know i asked my professors and they said cops have a book to see what a stock engine looks like. but most likely they would check vins on like honda's for stolen engines

Lemme get this straight....is the ticket simply because you modded or because the mod jacks up the emissions rating?

he probably got caught doing like a bad turn or something so small, and the cop noticed how aggressive the car looks with the hood and decided to see under it unless his intercooler was showing. a friend got pulled 2 times in 3 days and they gave him the dumbest explainations and he had that vented hood until he got rid of it, he hasn't had a single problem since.

dude cops here in california are wack when it comes to fix-it tickets. i think he will be asked to remove the turbo completely and do the emissions if not then pay a big fine for it

Well I guess I better never return to Cali then or in the words of Jack Nicholson's "Joker" character...."Wait til they get a load of me"

I'd have a defense lawyer on retainer for that BS. I mean that's really what it is.

You're telling me I can walk onto a car lot, buy...

-- A brand new Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, with a 4 cylinder engine with aggressive exhaust, an intercooler, and a turbo that makes it push out about 271 hp or...

-- A brand new Eclipse that has most of the same stuff, pushing about 263 horsepower or...

-- A Mustang GT pushing 300 horsepower OR.....

-- A brand new Mustang Shelby GT 500 supercharged and pushing 500 HORSEPOWER....

But I can't buy a stock Scion tC and tinker with it to produce even half the power of any of those? And it's because 'they come like that from the dealer?'

Oh yes....my lawyer and I would have a field day. Seriously, y'all need to organize and form a petition or something. That's a load of crap.
