the Ford Fusion needs help with the transmission, since they also use this SAME 2.3L I4 engine in the Mazda3! I did drive a Fusion and said to the salesman "you must like engineering a car that doesn't respond to the gas pedal". Wow, the transmission must've been out having a donut or something. waited like 3 seconds before it accelerated.

Definitely a dog of a transmission. How funny that the same engine in the Mazda6 or 3 is completely different!

lol what did you expect? they get the cheapest card out there for rentals so repair will be cheap.

my friend got a SLK when his BMW was in the shop....
my sister's friend got a PT cruiser when her jeep was in the shop.

you get random things but just been glad its just a rental...

Driving a Malibu this week. Boring as hell, but it gets the job done I guess. The one I got has all the info menus in German the best I can tell... So I havent figured out how to change that yet !

Haha, the fusion is not so bad. I'm doing an internship far FAR away from home rite now, so i left the tC at home, and am driving a rental for now. I had a choice between a chevy malibu, ford fusion and hyundai sonata and i chose the Fusion. Its not too bad really, but since its a v6 and i drive mostly city, the gas mileage blows. Well, u'll get your car back soon enough.

everytime ive needed a rental ive gotten a toyota, most of the time i end up with new style camrys, i got an old corrolla once and a new 2008 tC the last time.

i prefer the corrolla again over getting another tC. it was so not like driving my tC i hated it. slow, soft suspension and throttle delay from hell!

I dont know the Vibe can't be that bad it's built in the same factory as the Matrix and I've ridden in a Matrix is was a nice ride and the XRS handled very well in the snow.

I test drove a 2009 Vibe AWD, I liked the interior better then the tC and it drove pretty nice. Gas miliage sucks since it has the 2.4 and AWD. Nice car but I want a four door with better gas miliage.

It's a shame you didn't get a Versa. Last time my ride was in the body shop (for like 3wks) that's the rental I got. It was FANTASTIC. I felt at home in it within 10 minutes of adjusting the seat in mirrors.

Lots of room, and peppy enough to not ____ me off.

Cheapest interior I have ever seen
Rattles out the a-hole
Engine sounds like it is coming apart all the time
Feels like it has two squirrels powering it
looks like a pregnant roller skate

so yes... it CAN be that bad.

I ended up with a Kia Santa Fe one time, and asked if they had anything else. They said they only had a PT Cruiser, so i kept the Kia. On top of being really ugly, everything about it seemed flimsy and cheap, and it felt like it would fall apart on the highway.
I traded it in later for an '08 Hyundai Elantra, which ended up being pretty nice car and got killer gas mileage. I drove from LA to Vegas without stopping and still had gas left.
