I've owned my tc almost 6 years and been on here well over that and this will definitely sound like a newb question. i've got an indoor show in chicago this weekend that the fuel regulatoin is 1/8 tank (wtf???) which is the point to where the light comes on.

My question is....does the light come on as you're hitting your reserve? or do you not hit you're reserve until you're on the 'R' (unqiue from the good ole E of every other company). Any idea how many miles i can travel until i'm completely empty (being it chicago and McCormick center there's not a damn gas station near except in the ghetto at about $5/gallon)

When the light comes on and you fill it right away, you will usually put in ~11 gallons. The gas tank is 14.5 gallons, so that's a few gallons on reserve.

I drove from NY to CA and didn't stop for a refill somewhere in NV when I still had a half tank of gas, and let me tell you those extra few gallons saved me (stupid mistake obviously, but still).

 

awesome thanks! the 1/4 tank rule i hate as it is (dont like mine getting even that low) but 1/8 is pushing it (not sure how that's a safety regulation though since fumes are more flamable than liquid, but what do i know i'm just another person on the street lol)

I usually fill up right as I dip below 1/4 on the gauge, and it's usually always ~10 gallons to fill up. If the light comes on it's ~11 gallons. The most I've ever put in the car is about 12.7 and the gauge was showing completely empty.
