got a few scion tc questions
hey whats up everyone? im new here and looking to buy a tc but i got a few questions first. i know that u cant haggle the price any but is there any way a dealer would throw in free options like 6 disc changer to help seal the deal? also how are the speakers in the car. if u got the subwoofer, does it hit hard? like can u easily hear it outside the car? and everyone would recommend buying this car right? i know someone who bought one and i remember them telling me that the inside lights up blue when the doors open and stuff. is this true and is it standard?
I think the tC is a great car. They are very poular and I doubt any dealers are having any problem selling them so not much incentive to give anything away to seal the deal. Also, one of the coolest components of the Scion purchase proccess is the straightforward, negotiation free approach. Throwing things in (or anywhere for that matter) would conflict with that. My honest, personal opinion is the subwoofer is perfect for someone that would like inhanced adjustablility and range in thier sound system, have something that will work all the time, and have it installed by Toyota. for the money there are plenty of alternatives that hit much harder (if that is what you are after). The Speakers are developed by pioneer and work well with the Scion deck (also by Pioneer). The blue lights are extra (LED light enhancement) they are killer. Best car for the buck...period. Hope this helps!
If you are looking at options, consider buying oem parts and installing them yourself rather than adding them on as options at the dealership. ie, stuff like the door sill protectors, license plate frames, cargo organizers, etc. it's ridiculous to pay the extra for installation. As I understand it, adding on the options yourself won't void the warranty but they might not be covered under warranty...someone might want to correct me here.
check out http://www.mcgeorgeparts.com and http://www.toyotaparts4u.com
ie, light kits go for 1/2 the price if you get them oem.

i like some of the accessories too but they are overpriced to hell. not even worth in some cases even under warranty. that being said, no you cant negotiate the prices of the car and its options. ie being able to get it for free. i've seen some cases where the dealer will let you have like floor mats for free or the shift ***** but those are like sub $150. i hardly think they will let you have the 6 disc cd changer. the car is in hot demand now and if you try to haggle, they will just find the next guy willing to buy the car. its that simple.
There is only one thing you can haggle with if are purchasing a Scion, the amount of your trade in. If you currently have a P.O.S that you know isn’t worth the gas in its tank then trade it in and start negotiating. Other wise your best off selling it on the street for more. The car is a great buy, and I have to agree with every one else just purchase the parts off the net you’ll save 1/2 the money. As for the blue lights (which is more show then go) yea you can pay extra and have them added but that is shown on scion.com, which was all my dealer show room was bunch of internet kiosk.
As for the sub I’ll be honest I’ve never heard it, but in the past I’ve complained about under the floor mat in the trunk being only styrofoam this would make it easy to remove if you want to build a discreet custom box to fit in the back (just a thought).

it won't hurt to try. I doubt you'll get anything for free, but try anyway. and as for the 6 disc cd changer, both the stock and the 6 disc are mp3 players. I put 6 - 8 whole albums on one cd and I'm all good.
Yeah Man, I wouldnt hesitate for a second to buy one. My only real complaint about the stock sound system (I dont have a sub yet, im buying the tC sub setup down the road) but it just doesnt crank up too loud in my opinion. You can surely check this when you test drive, but yeah, it sounds pretty good in general. All the options (as everyone has said) are really pricey, and you are better off buying OEM things seperately like I am doing (mine is as basic as you can get except for floormats.) Great car thought, I am extremely happy with mine.
A couple of you are talking about saving money by installing options yourself.... The door sills, cargo nets and things of that nature...I can see. The LED light enhancements are another story all together. I have seen the techs perform this manuver and it is fairly involved. The car is not pre wired for this. Electrical problems are nasty in cars....... Think of it this way....even though 17k is realitively inexpensive as far as new cars go...it is still ALOT OF MONEY!!! Doesn't it make a little bit of sense to just kick down a few extra bucks to have the dealer sweat the install and back it? And back to the trade thing....your trade is only worth what it is worth.... we as dealers have no opportunity to "negotiate". We have our allocation at stake.

When I got my tC from Grossinger Toyota in Lincolnwood IL the offer me a sweet deal like if I will buy the Scion Security they will give me a free starter. So they did trow in an afetr marker security system called Auto Mate with the starter, engine disable, veri nice, It's alot better than Scion Security.
