Default got fogs and autodimming mirror installed. one problem...

love the fogs and the autodimming mirror but i think my local toyota dealership installed the mirror wrong. the ambient lighting and autodimming part stay on all the time. even when the key is out and i lock it up. so i got to remember to turn it off so i dont kill my battery. looks like i will have to take it back to the stealership to get them to correct that.

according to the instructions they wired it through the sun roof plug. i did it that way and have the same issue. there is another set of instruction that you run a wire to the passenger side behind the glove compartment and there is a plug to tap into. i havent had time to fix my auto dim mirror.

i have it wired/tapped into the sunroof power/wire harness, and it works perfectly for me.

some things to note:

1) autodimming feature and mood light feature should turn off when car is turned off. You can tell if the autodimming is off by looking at the small LED on the front of the mirror by the buttons

2) mood light turns off when there is lots of light, i.e. when you're outside during the day. it will then turn back on when it detects that you're in a low-light situation.

3) pilot light (not the mood light) can turn on any time, even when the key is not in the ignition.

They probably used the wrong power wire. If they used the power to the map lights, it'll be active when the car is off. If they did it correctly and used the moonroof power it will shut off when the car is off.
