grinding gears is not cool
ok, i've had my car since february, i've grinded the gears about 10 times total. mainly because this is my first stick shift car. it's almost always second gear, and it's almost always when i'm going around a turn.
i hadn't grinded a gear since march, then yesterday i grinded 2nd twice! nuts.
whats the long term effects of this? i'm going to pay more attention, i vow to never grind again.

I dont think long term effects of grinding are that bad , but I am in no way saying grind the hell out of it daily . I think the only time serious damage occurs is when you really force the shifter when shifting . Thats when the real true grinding happens . Just my opinion on it
The only damage that can occur is that you damage the syncros in the transmission...I only know this because on my Jetta I did it one too many times (knew I should have adjusted that short shifter again
) and I blew up the 1-2 syncro....hence the reason I drive a Scion now!
