Default idle gas mileage!

so tonight, i had to jump my dads GS300 and i idled my car for about 10 minutes and wow it drained the gas, but one other thing, i left the car door open on my dads GS300 for about 4 days (he's in Taiwan) and i come back today and try to jump it, but nothing.... what should i do? like usually when people jump cars is when theres still electricity but not enough amps to crank the engine, but on my dads car it won't even turn on the ACC stuff, so does this mean the battery has no hope?

If you left your car idle for 10 mins, you wouldnt even see the gas gauge move. I don't see how you claim it drained your gas?

Get yourself a battery charger or take it in to a shop for a quick charge. Sounds like it is just drained--not ruined.

You will need to let the car charge for about 20mins before trying to start it. Make sure all the acc. are off. The battery has hope, it will just need to charge. Drive the car around for about an hour, without the radio on or the lights or the rear defogger. The battery should be ok.

Letting the car run idle while its cold actually will use a lot of gas. The ECU sees that the tempature of the engine is cold, so it will naturally rev higher in the parking gear, and the neutral gear. Also, the ECU ignores some of the A/F sensors, and will just dump fuel.

yeah, well it didnt drain it, but i saw a decrease in prob the same of driving about 30 miles or so, but this topic was more to help out my situation of my dads car, so just leave the cables on and let my tc idle for liek 20 min's? maybe the shop for a quick charge will be easier thxx for the replies

first, if you are jumping it off. Make sure you remove the jumper cables BEFORE trying to start his. So hook up, charge his battery for about 15 minutes off of yours, then remove the cables and try to start his. Even though newer systems are better at surge protection, this is still a good idea rather than leaving yours hooked to his while starting.

Next, if you charge it and it still does absolutely nothing (no click, or anything) you need to pull the battery cables and clean them. If still nothing, there is a good chance the battery will not hold a charge. If the batter is not a maintenance free battery, pop the covers and make sure the cells are covered in water/acid. But I am guessing it is a maintenance free model.

Finally, idling does not eat up your gas badly, and there is no way you could have seen a noticeable change in gas level just from 10 minutes of idling. You could let it idle for 30 minutes and not see a noticeable change on the gauge.

So it sounds like the battery WAS already dead and you already jumped it and are now just asking about the fuel usage while it idled?

Your first post is hard to decipher for what you're actually talking about.

Also, on the dead car, hook the negative cable up to a bare unpainted piece of metal. NOT the negative terminal. The posative terminal can be hooked up normally.

The good car can be hooked up normally on both terminals as well.
