thats the problem, you are probably talking to toyota reps. who, you're right, don't give a flying frapachino about the tC....cause they can't sell it. make sure you ask for the scion manager.....oh and the other thing is that some toyota dealerships don't carry scion.

The demand for the tC is high, and it's unlikely you'll find any waiting to be sold. You should just go to a dealer that treats you right, put down your deposit, and get in line with everyone else. It doesn't hurt to continue looking around to find a dealership that may happen to have one on the lot, but odds are, if any buyer backs out, it'll be offered to someone on their list, and never be available for a walk-in sale.

Go on Scion.com and find a SCION dealer in your area. Then call that number. Here in Virginia, there are two local dealers, one has TWO tCs sitting on the lot just ready for the taking.

Everyone is correct in their advice. Just be patient and look around. You might also want to check the "Dealer Review" section and see if any of the dealers that have been reviewed are close to you:

https://www.scionlife.com/reviews

Hope this helps and patient! Thats the Key!

Like emplah said, make sure the first thing you say when the receptionist answers the phone is "Can you transfer me to a scion sales rep." The toyota sales reps will likely be of little to no help.

Then once you get a sales rep you should ask "Do you have any tC's in stock that you are able to sell." This one through me for a loop when I looked around. Many will have a tC there, and try getting you to come down and loop at it, but unless they have more than one, they cannot sell it. Most will say, "Yes we have a tC but it is our show vehicle and we can't sell it." But I did have someone say "Yeah we have one." I got there and then they tell me they can't sell it. ____ed me off.

After you find out they have some in stock then ask for the color and transmission type, and then for accessories already installed. If they don't have what you want, move on. If noone within a reasonable distance has one then you have two options:

1) Place an order for one and let the sales reps try to get on allocated for you.
2) Wait until the next allocation and then call around again.

Good luck in your search. I was able to find one the day I decided I wanted the tC. It had a lot more on it than I wanted, but I am happy with the vehicle, even though I will be broke for the next 6 years

As for downpayment. My trade-in (after they paid off what I owed) came to 800 dollars. Less than 1k. It was a lemon and I don't know if they realized that but I was told at a previous dealer I would be upside-down on my loan. I didn't haggle for more on my trade-in for this reason. Anyways, they financed it with only that 800 trade-in value, no other deposit. My APR was 5.95, I recieved Tier 1, but its higher than the 4.9 because I went to 60 months. Checking the scion site revelaeled 5.95 was tier 1 for 60 months.

Once again good luck. I would probably NOT put a downpayment on the vehicle unless it was they type where they just hold on to a check without cashing it. However, I didn't have to deal with deposits so that's out of my area.

Hi Jason,

Why did someone tell you that putting a deposit down was stupid? That part, I'm just curious about. Anyway, putting down a deposit isn't necessary really, but it does add weight to your order, so I've been told. If you have money on the car that you ordered, then that is considered pre-sold, and a "sure thing" so they'll get your order to you as best they can and probably sooner. Again, so I am told.

If you aren't interested in a down payment and just want to trade in, then you'll have to wait until the car your dealer (when you find one) preferences for you comes in, and then you can trade your car in for it. Your Sunfire will be fine I'm sure, once the car you order comes in.

Anyway, I wish you the best of luck finding the car you want. I like the look of those tCs. I'm waiting on an RS xA myself, so I could be sitting here awhile without my Scion.

Take Care,
~~Sel

I don't see what the big deal is about putting down a deposit in an area where the demand is high. If they didn't ask for one, you could just go to every dealership within a 100 mile radius and have them put your name down on a list... Of course, everyone else and their mother would do the same thing. Now imagine what would happen when a dealership gets a car in and has to call everyone on that list only to have most of them flake out because the potential buyer could put their name down just for the hell of it? That's not fair for the dealer.

The deposit you put down is in good faith. It does not commit you to buying the car, and is fully refundable. It shows your genuine interest in the car and your loyalty to the dealership which in turn gets you quality service from them. You can put your deposit through a credit card. If you don't want the tC or find one elsewhere, just ask your dealership to reverse the charge. It's painless.

Okay, here is my order of things for you to do, much of which has been said already.

1) go to scion.com and find all the local scion dealers.
2) start calling around seeing if they have tC's on the lot, then ask about what colors, and whatever else you care about. They wont likely have more than 2 on their lot, so chances are good you'll have to order one.
3) start pricing out the dealers and finding out their "doc fee". With scion everything is equal between dealers when it comes to the sale, except for the individual dealer doc fee (dealer profit add-on).
4) decide on what dealer treated you the best, was confident they could get you the car you wanted asap, and had a good doc fee.
5) if you found a dealer with the exact car you were looking for (highly unlikely) talk to them first of course
6) if not, then go to that top dealer from (4) and tell them what you want ordered. Dont tell them what accessories you'd settle for if you had to, just tell them the essentials. If they come back later saying they can get the car but it has these things on it, now you can start making deals with them. Maybe they can take stuff out, or get you deals on other parts/service, whatever. They may ask you for a deposit. They are making an effort, you should show good faith also. You should make sure of the stipulations of the deposit before you give it.
7) If they cant get it in or before their next allocation, I'd start going to other dealers and giving them the same order instructions until you get one that gets you your car.
if you pick a color/option combo that is a more rare, expect to wait. e.g. Azure Pearl, auto, with side bags

as far as doc fees and the like, if you go to the dealerships scion website...ie www.scionofglendale.com , we are required to post what those fees are going to cost the cutomer.

Just as a side note, automatic transmission will be more common as more are manufactured over manuals.

Well, I kinda feel you. As it turns out, I ended up calling 16 dealers before finding a 5spd tC 70 miles away. I put a 500 dollar deposit down on it to ensure no one else did and sweep the car out from under me. You gotta be a little patient and recognize that the tC is still VERY new and the Scion process will take some time to smooth out before things will go flawless. I ended up financing with a CA credit union, got a 3.5% APR .

I was keeping tabs on every dealer within 90 miles. I ended up driving an hour and a half for the opportunity to finally test drive a 5 speed. The dealer told me to hurry over 'cause he figured it wouldn't last more than a couple days. I went that same day and bought it cash. I'm very happy with my Flint Mica 5 speed!
