Being a police officer and responding to many accidents, I can tell you from experience that many things tend to get on the roadway after aan accident. The big hazards are oil, radiator fluid, & transmission fluid. We do have contracts with tow companies and they are supposed to lay down sand to absorb those hazards. But from experience, they are usually in a hurry and sometimes don't get everything covered up. To me it sounds like you hit one of those hazards. I have seen accidents happen before because of this but it is mostly from motorcyclists. M/C have a harder time avoiding the crash than vehicles do. I hope this helps. PS, I don't think you're a "noob"

A swaybar will fix that.

really, front or rear? does it matter as either will decrease maximum grip at that end of the car? anyway, bless you.

Did you read the post? The light had just turned green and I was traveling at a moderate speed.

My swaybar has been on my car since November. So I'm sure it wouldn't fix anything.

that wasn't my question. from a stop you 'gradually accelerated' then 'halfway through the turn' did you let off the gas or brake? or were you on the gas the whole time (accelerating or maintaining speed).

fix anything, no. it would reduce maximum grip, however. and if you only have the rear swaybar (trd, for example) and it is set to 'race' then your tail would more easily kick out.

I too think that it was probably a spot of poor traction on the roadway. Even if you've driven it before, perhaps you took it a different way this time, or were paying more attention to everything happening around you and not really inspecting the road (I don't blame you!). It is very possible that loose pebbles or gravel or even sand were present there after a landscaping truck or such came through.

Either that, or you had black ice on the roads in 80 degree weather. Right.

Whatever it was, 3000 lbs. vehicle + no feeling of control = no good.

Maybe you should take the same exact turn another time and see if it happens again? If possible, follow from a decent distance behind another small coupe and see if they have any visual struggle with it.

i once stopped for a stop sign, stopping at a normal pace that anyone would stop at...all of a sudden my ABS kicked in until i stopped right before the stop sign.

i turned into a lot and got out to look at my tires. i thought maybe i had a flat or something.
turns out it was the road, they had a metal plate on the road and it was on a slight hill delcine before the stop sign, so i guess i started sliding. it was a hot day out too, but no rain.

To be honest, I don't really remember. It was a few months ago.

Also, I have springs on my car as well.
