maintenance help
Okay so I'm new here and I'm sure this has been posted, so if it has please just direct me to that posting lol
So i have an 2005 tC, it has about 105k give or take
I wanted to know what kind of maintenance besides tires/brakes, fluids, and oil/filters, I should be doing?
Like do you change the timing belt at 125k or what, i've heard so many mixed things on these cars, does the water pump need replacing, and all that kind of stuff?
Any help or a list of things for the things such as; 110k service, 115k service, etc would be really helpful
Thanks

Your water pump has a small weep hole that starts to leak when the pump starts going bad. It'll leave coolant residue on the passenger side if the engine bay. Had to replace mine at about mid 40ks. Some of that was on boost but I don't think that affected it
We can help you with this. Services recommended are as follows:
110 k miles or 132 Months service :
❑ Replace engine oil and oil filter
❑ Rotate tires
❑ Visually inspect brake linings/drums
and brake pads/discs
115,000 miles or 138 months:
❑ Replace engine oil and oil filter1
❑ Rotate tires
❑ Visually inspect brake linings/drums
and brake pads/discs
120 k miles or 144 months
❑ Replace engine oil and oil filter1
❑ Rotate tires
❑ Replace engine air filter
❑ Replace spark plugs3
❑ Tighten drive shaft bolt
❑ Inspect the following:
__ Ball joints and dust covers
__ Brake lines and hoses
__ Brake linings/drums and
brake pads/discs4
__ Drive belts
__ Drive shaft boots
__ Engine coolant
__ Engine valve clearance
__ Exhaust pipes and mountings
__ Front differential oil
__ Fuel lines and connections, fuel
tank band and fuel tank vapor
vent system hoses
__ Fuel tank cap gasket
__ Radiator core and condenser
__ Steering gear box
__ Steering linkage and boots
__ Transmission fluid or oil
As far as the timing belt, your vehicle comes with a timing chain which is designed to last the life of the vehicle and replaced upon inspection. There is no specified change interval for the water pump either but a dealer or certified mechanic can inspect and let you know if it is still fine or recommend replacing it. Hope this helps ^AP
