My first speeding ticket...
Drublic, what does your ticket say? i mean how did the cop catch you speeding?? by radar, clock?? if the cop clocked you then most likely he has no evidence of you speeding...
you go to court against the cop and the cop has kno evidence of you speeding than you are autmatically off the case...

ha, I've had a cop joke around with me about my radar detector ("You know, those don't work..." as he's standing at my window, got off with a warning), and have also talked about what band the cop used to get me since my detector didn't go off (Laser, pointed at license plate, got a ticket, reduced to seatbelt). 1110a is definitely the best option, it costs a bit less, and is fewer points on your license. I've had people pay $500 for a lawyer and it was still only reduced to 1110a.
Basically, my experience has been that when walking up to your car, 90% of the time the cop knows whether he's giving you a ticket or not. If its a speed trap, you're dead. Hand him your license/reg, accept your ticket, say "Thank you sir" and drive off. If you're nice they'll note it, and remember you when you show up to court.
Most of the LIE type stuff is speed traps, pure revenue enhancer. Smile, say that you didn't notice what speed you were traveling at, you were just keeping up with traffic, although you know that's no excuse, just an explanation.
Then show up at court and throw yourself on the mercy of the cop (or is it the DA here on LI?). In Westchester almost *all* of the speeding fines were reduced to 5mph over the limit, which more than made up for the increase in court fees ($25-40). The last thing the courts want is every single speeder getting up in front of the judge with pictures, video, graphs, and taking an hour to plead their case. They want to get you in, take your money, and get you out as fast as possible, so they usually allow you to plea down your offence. Have heard that Long Island is worse, though, so not sure.
Hope this helps!

Like I said, I was driving along with traffic, and yes, traffic on the Long Island Expressway flows at least 80 late night.
You'd be surprised... most times of the day, the traffic on I87 upstate New York flows at a healthy 90, 95 mph, with a posted speed limit of 55. If you arent speeding, you're a road hazard...
the fact of the matter is, you were speeding.
you just have to man up and deal with the consequences.
it doesnt matter how fast anyone else is going.
If you get hit by a car going 95 mph anywhere, you are 100% not at fault for anything that happens.
stay within the speed limits. they are there for a reason.
Hopefully youll have a fast 39months.

I just got my First ticket yesterday off the I-5 from Sacramento to San Diego. The CHP Crossed OVER the grass
I didn't think they would bother doing that haha. But yah, the chp said I was clocked going 100, which he was wrong, because i'm sure i was going over that =X But yah, I told him that I was paying attention to the road and didn't realize i was going that fast (No other cars around me).
He seemed nice and gave me a ticket with it saying 85 mph in a 70 zone. I'm still in shock that he bothered crossing the grass to catch me, and since this is my first ticket, i'm just hoping that things will turn out alright. I can't make it all the way to their Court in the Boonies to dispute it, so here i am patiently waiting for whatever they are going to send.
Word to all: It's really hard to "feel" that you are going fast. To me... it honestly felt like i was going slow. So just watch yo speed and watch out for cops in the OPPOSITE Direction of I-5 as well!
G'luck to all those that got tickets, and are going to get tickets

Dude, did you read the back of the ticket?? I think you only have 48 hrs. to mail it in to plead guilty. I hope your in a jurisdiction that allows you to show up to enter a plea. (did the cop give you a date to do that by?) Cause other wise your screwed.
Also, it's pronounced, "Eleven Ten A"

Let me start by saying this Ticket Assassin is not giving out advice that is new. AND it wont work in N.Y. to the degree he claims it will in CA.
Example: In NY you may contest the ticket and request a supporting deposition from the Police Officer. If that SD is not in your hands within 30 days you may request a dismissal when you go before the Judge for "Lack of Prosecution" The Judge will dismiss the ticket BUT he may also let the cop rewrite the ticket right there in court, issue it to you and then hand you a supporting deposition and then re-schedule you for another court date. Some of his advice is correct but not a sure thing. You MAY get lucky and have the cop not show up and it will be dimissed. Then again the judge may agree to a postponement if the ADA requests one. I agree that pleading not guilty is ALWAYS better then just sending in the fine, unless you have to travel two or more hours to get back to said jurisdiction for an appearance. But remeber your are playing the odds at best. I remember something an ADA told me when I was a rookie and never forgot...in his court room, the judge can do whatever he wants (I have seen sitting judges proposition women from the bench in open court and get away with it)and that he is more powerful then GOD; cause GOD cant fine you or put you in jail. It is also almost impossible to remove a sitting judge.
As for crying... well, either this person was EXTREMELY lucky getting out of 17 tickets or all the cops were REALLY stupid, or she's a blonde knockoutwith huge magombas. I suspect she is "guilding the lilly " a little on this one. I never fell for the crying act, the unbuttoned blouse or the ,"I'm starting my period RIGHT NOW." I would simply tell them that if they were so upset that they couldnt stop crying I couldnt let them drive off after I gave them their ticket because they would not be able to operate a motor vehicle safely. The crying would stop immediately and miraculously.
