yeah i would side with getting a lawyer.. it's definitely a steering rack and ball joint issue!! It makes me wonder if the problem is more widespread.. definitely contact your insurance but hell.. contact a lawyer.. this is NOT right.. I don't care if it toyota.. like somehow that removes them from problems? nothing's perfect in this world.. A lawyer just makes them take you seriously.. have seen it before..

i mean with the glass top breaking randomly, the steering issue of the pulling, and now ball joints failing.. makes me wonder about quality. Toyota does read these and they better get their act together or we will start lumping them in with GM..

before you do that, take a look at the road, if it has ruts in the road, that's what the steering wheel is grabbing.. the wide, low profile tires we have do that.. I've had the steering wheel move to the 3 o'clock position before at a stop light.. but if it happens on perfectly smooth roads, then ya i'd have it checked out..

Yeah, it is on rutted roads, I don't think it's too big of a deal normally... I have broken clavical right now (2.5 weeks along) and the whole wheel turning to 3pm, is kinda "challenging" with my 5speed when making stops sometimes...

So let me get this straight: knowing (which you don't, but let's say you do for the sake of argument) that it was a warranty issue, you would pay hundreds, maybe thousands, of dollars out of pocket, that you won't get back, to hire a lawyer just in case there was some unforeseen problem...?

no i forgot to add in there that if they don't fix the problem or give a "run-around" and excuses.. then i would get a lawyer..

But yeah, if it's a warranty issue, demand that they fix the problem.. of course you wouldn't need a lawyer for a manufacturing defect.. but if it gets drawn out and excuses thrown at the owner.. then yeah a lawyer would be in order..

I am still unclear, did you take it to the dealer? This is a warranty issue, has nothing to do with it being a lemon. Insurance should not have to get involved, customer care should not be involved unless the dealer denies your warranty claim. Calling the dealer is all you should have to do. If a tie rod end came loose (which is what it looks like happened) then it is a cut and dry warranty repair.

ummmm they won't fix the front quarter panel of his car and the other car man.....

umm I was referring to the front end coming apart, sorry if I deisregarded the fender and the other car.

Like I said, let them check it out, if the wheel is turned outwards (disconnected from the steering) then it is most likely a bad tie rod end or one that was not properly connected from the factory (given that it really did just happen out of nowhere). If that is the case it should be a simple warranty issue and you will be back on track. If they give you too much pain over warranty, then go for a lawyer. If it does turn out to be a tie rod issue it will be pretty hard for them to argue with you unless there is a huge gash in your wheel where you slammed into a curb sideways or other such noticeable damage.

Yes, that can be scary as hell. A friend of my father was killed when a tie rod end came apart on him in the middle of a turn. Again, I am glad to hear it happened at low speed this time.

ok from what i read. this is what i can say.

It can only be a lemon issue if the car has been in service for a certain amount of time for the same repair.

This is a warranty issue EXCEPT for the fender. if look further into that.

What are you gonna excatly do with a lawyer? are you gonna sue for damages for something? cant stand it when people can Sue for everytihg. just be thankful nobody was killed or hurt.

this Suspension thing is covered under warranty.

The Scion/Toyota Rep that will take 2 weeks to show up is normal. Keep in mind that the Rep is one person and can come from a good distance away, or is on vacation, or is only specalized in suspension, steering claims

IMO you should only call corprate if your car was fixed and it was poor service/repair.

Question,
sorry if i dont remember (just woke up, i work nights) but was the car at the dealer when you called corprate?
did the dealer say its not covered?

oh and be patient. when a claim like this happends, it takes time to investigate what happened so it doesnt happen again. think of it like Scion CSI

good luck

Never said it was your mistake. What I (and others) suggested is that maybe someone screwed with your car.

Please do all Scion tc owners a favor and report this to the NHTSA. Here is a link for their complaint site, which may be filed by web form, phone, or snail mail. You may help keep someone from getting kill-ed!

http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/

Let Toyota know that you have reported this as well. It doesn't sound like they are being very responsible. I bet your insurance company has a junk yard dog lawyer that will get them to fix things.
