My tC Had A FIRE!
I think this guy caused his own problems, can't take apart the dash and do kooky things and then blame it on toyota. I do a lot of troubleshooting of high end computers (SUN) and i always look at recent "upgrades" as suspect and check it first. Mess with the dash and then it catches on fire, seems to me there is a connection.

Just common sense troubleshooting. So judge for yourself.

We aren't hating here, were just giving the kid a dose of reality. Just because JD power said the cars have high quality doenst mean they will last long, and for those of you who have had mazdas miraculously go over 120k, then i guarantee that you spent alot of $$$ getting there!

Prior performance is a good inidicator of future expectations, its practically a law of nature. This applies to mazda, they made crap and still are making it, with the gracious help of ford designed products! Read this article..... Link
So fords euro devision helped japan design the madza 6 !!!
Just cause it looks good doesnt mean it is, i can put sprinkles on **** and say its nice and pretty but in the end its still a pile of shiite. HAve fun with your mazda......better get roadside towing with your ins.
hows that for hatorade? lol
My apologies for beating a dead horse and hijacking this thread

as for your lovely article... wow.. the 6 shares the same platform as the mondeo, mazda redesigned it to appeal to what the typical american likes, which is different than your typical european customer. If this doesnt make sense go take a basic marketing class. Also just an fyi the 3 shares nothing in comon with the current focus, its built on the new volvo s40 platform and the new 2006 eurofocus.
note to mods: can we get a block user option on here?

Look @ the history of the long term reliability of mazdas or any other american engineered car, compare it to a toyota/honda/nissan and you will see a difference....further supporting my idea on why tC is better than a 3.
Japanese engineering is a wonderful thing and we all know it from driving scions and toyots. But when ford engineers start working with the japs to build a car, you get a monstrosity that will eat your wallet as fast as any other domestic junker.
now if you can prove to me how Ford engineering can make the mazda better, then u might have a chance @ winning this argument.
otherwise quit defending the competition lol...this is SCIONLIFE
once again my apologies to the mods and innocent viewers of this thread gone mad. [lock-ban if you must] (its just such a good place to have educational humourous {to some @ least} discussions lol)
this isnt an argument, just the incoherent ramblings of ignorance
lets recap:
someones tc catches on fire, its totalled, decides to buy a different car, a 3rd party tells person whos car caught on fire that his new car is a POS and continues to bash on persons new car and car company as a whole
positives of joint ventures: increased sales, lower production costs, increased quality, etc..

LED - do you understand what an OEM really stands for? I.e. Ford, Volvo, Mazda..etc? Yes, they are all owned under the name brand of "Ford" ; should we mention some other names?? Land Rover, Aston Martin.. are you also saying because these companies are owned by ford they have issues?
Back to what i was saying, an OEM designs specifications for what their vehicles need to perform to. Of course there is a lot of designing involved, chassis, vehicle diagnostics, sheet metal..etc Most of the design work/endurance/durability requirements fall on the Tier1 suppliers: Bosch, Delphi, Visteon, Denso...etc THOSE are the companies designing and building the components for your engine, fuel system, transmission...EVERYTHING to wipers and brakes. Considering i work in the automotive industry, each OEM (Ford, Mazda, Volvo..etc) choose their own Tier 1 suppliers for components. So if something was to go wrong, i.e. a recall Ford/GM/DC are going to receive all the press because they are the end user.
Since there has been plenty of data provided to show that Mazda is a good reliable company, SHOW me data that they are not???? Because you have a few personal experiences doesnt mean that the overal company deserves a "bad name" Again, i ask you to show me data to support what you are saying????? Not, OMG the lock broke, or OMG my wiper blade fell off... REAL RELIABLE DATA...vehicle caught on fire for no reason, engine block cracked and seized...etc?

lower production costs, possibly
increased quality? never when ford is involved....might look like it for now, but when the poor kid goes to open his door in 5 yrs and finds the handle in his hands, he will learn alot about quality.
This thread has wandered off topic and gotten itself tangled, probably never to return to the original topic.
Seems like a good time to lack it up and thank everyone for contributing...
