Default Need Some Help Part II

alright, i just spent too long trying to install my megan s-pipe (yes i'm some what of a noob). i have a couple questions for those of you who have successfully done it.

1. do you use the original bolts (with the springs on them) to re-attach to the headers?
2. what are these(see pic below) called and do i NEED to use them?
3. and....theres another thing that looks like the pic below, but thicker. does that go at the top where the header is, or the back where the mid-pipe is. thanks all for your help.

1. i would say so unless new hardware was provided

2. these are gaskets, and yes use them

3.may be the the header gasket, is it longer and have more holes in it?

its still the gasket you use. suppose to cushion the downpipe to the exhaust manifold (or the trailing exhaust system). also it's to cushion the two flanges together so it doesn't leak exhaust.

if bolts were supplied with the downpipe, use them. if they don't fit somehow?? stock bolts.

when i put my s-pipe on i used all of what you are talking about. from the s-pipe to the mid it went: s-pipe - gasket (the thin one in your pics) then thick piece (slid over the remaining s-pipe pipe) - second gasket - mid pipe. everything matched up and no probs. can't remember if i used supplied bolts or stock bolts. use whichever snugs down, i guess.

the header end got the stock donut gasket. for me, everything fit perfect. at first when i looked at the parts i got i was to like "wtf". then it all came together. 25000+ now. no cracks. i responded to this thread: 1. i had to search and ask why some where discarding the thick metal piece and cutting the "excess" part of the s-pipe (just past the flange) when i did not and the fitment was perfect. 2. i just pulled my dc sports header and my s-pipe (meagan) out to test fit a tsudo header. no cracks. the only thing i found was a couple of little scratches where the lowest part of the s-pipe hangs...

... having lowing springs could make this happen if you don't watch where you are going and put both wheels over the speed bump at the same time.

also, someone should really think about doing a DIY for this. i know every says, "oh its so easy! just 4 bolts and the O2 sensor"...but it helps us newbies with the small stuff (like where the gaskets and thick piece go).
