Hey! I am sorry to hear what happened and I wish a speedy and good recovery for you. Personally ABS has saved my life a couple of times and I know of others that are also alive because of ABS.

Have you tried contacting Scion Customer Service and letting them know what happened? I am sure corporate is lurking around here and might have seen the post but I think it would be a good idea to contact Scion just in case this is a fault on all the cars....

Again I hope everything goes well for you and your Girl!

:D

"Safe car" assuming they don't all have brake problems. Personally, I have never trusted ABS. Mainly because the only times I've had problems with my brakes locking up I was driving a car with so called "Anti-Lock" brakes. Cars without ABS have always felt safer to me. Anyways, good call getting that GAP insurance and hope you recover soon.

I will try to get the poictures of my NEW car posted and the skid marks that way you can all see what a totalled tC looks like and then you can see for yourself that the tire treads on the road are like nothing you have seen before. They will be posted soon.

It seems my ABS kicks in for the wrong reasons sometimes....When I go over potholes or try to stop on bumpy surfaces (but at really low speeds like 5 or 10 mph) it will kick in. My old vette had abs and that did it too, but it was also 10 years old and it wasn't operating properly. Good luck. Can you post some pics of the interior? I would like to see the inflatable knee bolster panel and can you post your pics of the blown airbags if you took any.....or email them to me or something...I work for at an automotive instrument panel supplier, these pics would be quite interesting to me. Thanks.

Mine does it too going over bumps and such at very low speeds. I'm thinking of just disabling the ABS, I'm not convinced it's worth it. Never had a braking problem on any of my other cars that didn't have it, but on the ones that do, I have problems. The brakes are the most important part of the car IMO, there is NO room for error there.

In the event of theft, or damage resulting in a total loss, there may be a gap between the amount you owe your financing company and the amount the insurance pays you for your car. Gap insurance covers that amount. It's essentially a debt cancellation contract. The reason gap insurance is applicable is because as soon as you drive the car off the lot, it is no longer worth nearly as much as you paid for it, but you still owe what you originally paid to the finance company.

Your Ins will go up...because if you use PIP, for yourself it does count against you....some times they even will not renew your policy at the renewel date....even a replaced windshield counts against you

GAP insurance is just as he said. For me it was 297.50 with taxes and all applied to it. It did not sound like a bad idea, now it is a great idea. As long as I can find faul with the cars brakes, I will not have an insurance increase. That is what I am aiming for. I am not trying to bring down the Scion conglomerate or anything like that, I am trying to get them to look at my particular car, and to get everyone else aware of this issue because it may be a wide spread thing. There has already been a few people posting with similar reports. Honestly I would love to get another tC because it saved my life. But if I find this is a major problem with the cars, then obviously not. At the current time, I would love a new Scion tC, Silver Streak Mica, B-Pillar Appliques, Security System, AEM battery tie down and valve cover, and groudn effects kit, to replace what I lost. HINT for anyone out there reading and having sympathy and big pockets . But if I keep finding these reports then no, I will look somewhere else. This was incredibly scary.

A windshield replacement is a no-deductible claim in Florida because it's safety related. It also does not count against you here. I've used it twice.

I just got off the phone with Scion and they took an accident report basically and gave me a Case #. That means very little to me. I am waiting until next week to hear from my Allstate agent and if he does not decide to pursue this then I will. Even Jeremy, the man I spoke ith from Scion said it sounded like a defect and that he would distribute the claim.

Well, no offense, but if I was his Boss, I'd tell him to stop admiting guilt. I've learned one thing over the years, when it comes to automobile accidents, never admit guilt.

Well obviously that is not the business thing to do. I worked for a furniturecompany and they would pull the same ____. Couch has a defect, hide and lie about it. I quit there after a while though. Being a moral person and working like that did not sit well with me. I appreciate his honesty but I do not care if Jeremy from the office agrees. What I care about is if the manufacturer does. I realize this will be one hell of a fight to get them to admit they did somethign wrong. At least I am not fighting this alone.

It's not about morality. If it were, you would get rewarded for admitting guilt, but the opposite is true. I was in an accident where I struck another driver. That driver fled the scene. I reported it to my insurance, and two days later the guy I hit is at the cops with my liscence number and some bull____ story. I didn't get in trouble, but my insurance did pay for all the damage. He fled the scene and paid nothing.

Like I said, it's not about morals. The evidence will prove what it will. What if it isn't a defect and scion still pays the claim. Is that moral?

Honestly. I do not want to get into an argument with you over the fabric of morality. Lieing though is immoral. So if they do it, that guy you know did it, that is immoral. Just cause Jeremy agreed should have no impact. So he should not be repremanded or even told to do otherwise. Was it wrong what happened to you, Yes. Is it wrong what happened to me, Yes. This is not a "what if its a defect" situation, it is but the question is "Is this a universal defect affecting all Scions or is it isolated?" That is what I want to find out some calm down there, I am not trying to get 4 million dollars in emotional stress i am trying to stop my insurance from increasing.

Yes, fleeing the scene is wrong and illegal, but you said you hit him, and you didnt get in trouble for it. Why should he need to pay anything if you hit him? :?
