Potential new owner
Hi all, I'm looking close at a 2006 with 98k miles for my son's first car. Honestly, I've never given these cars a second look but the more I read the more I like. Would appreciate any advice on this model or any gotchas to look out for? I like the relative low miles and the fact it has a timing chain. And assume I also get Toyota reliability as well. I'm going to drive it tomorrow so any advice is much appreciated.

I think the oil consumption recall was for years 2007, 2008 and 2009. Just to be sure, check the oil filler cap. If it recommends 5w30 motor oil, you're fine. The oil burners recommend 5w20 and 0w20.
Yeah, I like the fact you don't have to change the timing belt at ~120,000 miles. Even if the timing chain breaks, it's a non interference engine so you won't get any valve and or piston damage.
