im going to be pulling the engine within the next 2 weeks... ..... what the best way to get it out of the TC... should the subframe be dropped with eng and trans all together.. or do it with a cherry picker..? i was looking to see how toyota recommends but i have found nothing.?

probably with cherry picker. unless you have access to a lift and can just get the engine loose and lift the car up?

You're supposed to drop the subframe.

 

That is probably the recommended method from Toyota (it is on most FWD cars these days). However, if I were doing it in my garage, I would use a cherry picker. Especially since I dont have easy access to a lift like I did when I lived in OK where my dads shop is It looks like it should come out ok with a crane, and the above pic shows that it will.

 

well the last time i pulled an engine i used a cherry picker (V6 Avalon, i think it was a late 90s model) came out fine.

 

just make sure everything is dissconnected and out of the way. should be fine.

 

Man I looked at it and cherry picker is they easiest way to get her out........pull the hood and disconnect..........only if you have a lift should you try to drop it all as you need like 3 feet clearance from ground.........and one hell of a stand to mount it on.......

 

WOW.. thanks.. that pic looks like the front end has to come off.. i guess ill do the cherry picker and remove the front ...... thanks guys...

 

the radiator support does not have to come off, it makes life easier i guess but not necessary.
