Pure Price, a ripoff in this economy?
The actual cost of new cars has gone down and the price of the Scion Tc has gone up.
But, older cars were "tanks" and a 1971 Cutless would be valuable today. That makes that article completely irrelevant, correct?
Give me a break. No matter what I put up here the fan-boys will disagree.
I dont really care though. Plenty of people agreed with me on here, despite this being a fan-boy website. That says enough for me. Go ahead and keep buying them if you like them so much. I dont think I will. They just are not worth it. If the economy continues to decline, and the Tc continues to get expensive, you can just keep paying more - pure price and all.
Either way, Scion lost at least 2 sales with me, and others will follow suit. I didnt need an economics class to tell me that a car that costs $3500 more, but comes with the spoiler, fogs, 6-speed, differential, 40 more Hp, an better stereo w/ sub, running lights, sport pedals, ect, especially when the market may narrow that cost gap is a WAY better deal.
Further, although Ive had no major problems, the Tc is a rattle box after a few k miles. My stereo skips stations at traffic lights. The motor is under-powered. You have to rev it to 3500+ rpm to go down the road at regular highway speeds making for a rough ride, the Bazooka sub is awful, the "oh $hit" handles rattle as does the sun-roof and rear hatch, the transmission/clutch is rougher than other cars I have driven, there is terrible wheel hop going around corners and it has the worst (by far) rear blind spots of any car I have driven ever.
Does the Si (the better deal) have any of these problems? Come on fan-boys, I dont want to hear that the car is perfect in every way ever.
I think that all things considered that the Tc for 15,000 or so would be an absolutely smoking deal, but once you get into the car w/ delivery it does not add up, when you can get a car with more options for not much more.
This problem may be the fact that I look at cars in $5,000 increments. There is a difference (In my mind) b/w a 10k car and a 15k car and a 20k car, ect. The Tc is kind of in between, but, there seem to be better deals out there.
What if I told you I could have gotten a cobalt SS turbo new for 22k - good deal? Better deal?
Thoughts.

i agree with you, the tC isnt as good of a deal when everyone else is offering crazy incentives. with that said, i bought the tc because i like the tc and its a pretty good bargain. some of you guys really need to take a step back and look at it from an unbiased viewpoint...the SI is a better deal than the tc right now, with all of the incentives. this coming from a huge scion fan boy that would never sit in a honda.
Like I said to your other buddy, the only guy I saw agree with you, if you think Scion is dumb for having their purepricing, then you need to take one minute to look at yourself, with what, a highschool diploma at best? And ask if you think you've got a better idea on how to run Toyota as a business than they do.
If you answer that question Yes, you need much more help than an e-bashing.
The scions are what they are, hate it or love it. I'd buy my car again if I was in the same situation, cause in it's class it's the best buy for ME.
and LUL, the cobalt ss/tc. Isn't GM tanking shortly? Why would you buy a GM product knowing their about to go bankrupt?

Ive already said that I will not quote my resume as some kind of benign support for my argument.
Many have agreed with me on here.
Ill give you a hint though. Im sitting in a trial practice class right now with a nice job offer on the table.

thank u for being unbiased...i love toyota the best but even i am able to take a look at it from a diff standpoint
and yellowhoodie.
even if u think u r getting a good deal u r not
I ABSOLUTELY DISAGREE WITH THAT STATEMENt
true...most ppl that think they got a good deal have not. but ur telling me that NOONE HAS EVER gotten a great deal on a new car...
this statement suggests to me that ur a young man...and have not quite mastered the art of haggling...hang around w/some asians for a while...THEY"LL help u get a good deal...
omgrice-
thank u very much. that is exactly what im saying. by all means u like the tc and bought it. as long as the reason u bought it wasnt because u thought it was a great deal u r one smart fellow...
considering of course if u bought it w/in last coupel of months
if u bought it before then...u good a great deal for that time...
but i think the purpose of this thread should be if it is a good deal NOW....not before...who cares we arent buying cars in the past...soo ya..
si is a better deal than tc currently if u DO IT RIGHT AND HAGGLE RIGHT
otherwise go buy scion cause pureprice was invented for ppl like u yellowhoodie
TRUE OR FALSE.
NO ONE EVER GETS A GOOD DEAL ON A CAR.
i dont mean to threadjack jake but i think that this should be a false statement and want to hear other's opinions since yellowhoodie absolutely is wrong on this particular statement

I still dont know why you dont get it, you are using the term fanboy in the wrong way.
If you like the tC you get it, plain and simple. Some people in this economy would like to get a tC over another car such as the Si. Why? Personally preference, maybe they like the look of the tC more, maybe they appreciate the roomy backseats or the fact the seats can turn into a bad, maybe they are Toyota loyal. Its not always about getting the best deal. Jeezus man...if you are looking for the best deal you are never going to be satisfied, theres always going to be a better deal out there. Just get the car you want and will be happy with, period. Of course price is a factor, but ultimately in the end I rather spend that extra few thousand or whatever the financial cost may be so I can be happy with the car I want. Again its not always about getting the best deal, its getting the car you want. Is it a good deal? If you get the car you want at a price you like and can afford, then yeah for you its a good deal. Will there always be a better deal somewhere else? Damn right. Doesnt mean crap though.

i can agree w/10 piece nuggets...go ahead and get the tc caause U like it....but hey...i have to make the point that just going out there and buying a random car is a stupid decision...and thats what research is for...i dont see this thread as a debate..rather as a form of research which alerts buyers out there that THERE ARE better deals out there...i mean..i realize ur never gonna get the BEST deal cause there will always be something out there...just that im trying to help ppl looking into buying an "economy" car a BETTER DEAL...and who isnt in search of one in this economy huh
Well, let's see here......
I have an 06 with 82,ooo, no rattles, only problem I have ever encountered is 1 burned out headlight, that's it zilch. And as far as rattles are concerned I have zero of those too. Maybe I just got on eof the "good ones". Who knows.
Other cars with "incentives" are also cars that have plummeting resale value. remember this. If a 25,000 car has a 3500 dollar incentive and has approx 25oo in markup you are already at 19000 net. Drive off the lot and tank another 3500 so now you are at 15,500. So there you go wow an incentive on a 25000 car you really need to keep it in perspective. The long haul imports are better buys and don't usually have large incentives.
Now in regards to you loving the honda so much more for "only" 3500 more. Go for it. To each their own. I don't think Scion will suffer much from your 2 lost sales to Honda.
Either way, go with what you feel is right but geez sounds like a lot of hate on Scion.
Love your cars, whatever they may be.

yes andrew...but what he's trying to make i believe is that more ppl r gonna go to toyota or honda or w/e.,...so to add to urs jake they basically lost the tc from me now...so there's 3 cars they lost...i like pure price...i just want them to "reconsider the price" in light of the economic situation...im pretty sure if they lowered it more to widen the gap btw similar cars that some consider to have better features, that they would make more sales....

then they will lose business...maybe not a lot ...or even enough to make scion go down or consider changing price...but will def. lose business...they already lost 3 that i no of the ppl on this thread...pure capitalism....im guessing since ur unable to stand back yellowhoodie and take a fair look....that u voted for obama...am i right...let's just bring communism for all right...pure price everything so everyone has a fair chance...
