Pure Price, a ripoff in this economy?
question. doesnt the fit gett better mileage than the xd?
ok. all i want to say is that if someone asked me yes or no to the topic of the forum i would answer yes for the tc. the xb and xd idk cause i dont really pay attention to those. and no i am not confused as to whether i want a 4dr or 2dr. i need to buy both within the next 1.5 years. it just doesnt matter to me which i buy first
carbonxe
and for comparing it to the tc....how long have you been boosted and not HAD A SINGLE PROBLEM....related to turboing of course...i am more inclined to think that a tc produving 235 hp and a camry v6 producing 280. (im supposing those would make it roughly the same 0-60 time) i personally think the camry will be more reliable in the long run, not to mention not running having to run premiun which i just checked was 40 cents over per gallon. and im guessing the mileage would always be the same. of course. thats assuming ur on boost almost 99% of the time, and as far as i no no one using enough boost to get 235hp on the tc is getting 20ish mpg if they're hitting boost all the time

and ya....absolutely go buy it if that's all the money u have or can afford....i like the tc...dont get me wrong...i just think that the tc is not the biggest bang for the buck there is if ur looking at toyota as a whole...not to mention the TON of money u would save by buying a v6 camry considering scion is up there in insurance pricing...so if we look at ALL factors.
gas mpg
resale value
insurance
price out the door
power
room
i think right now a used v6 camry even though being used is still a better deal than buying a new tc....considering the above characterisitics
of course. i AM NOT taking into account several things that ppl LOVE about the tc and there are several...it is simply that what i listed above are the most important things i look for in a car
things you may like
SUNROOF
handling
ease of turboing
etc etc.
and if ur buying it for any of these reasons or anything U love about the tc...congrats on getting what you want, and if that dual sunroof and all those things found on a tc not easily found in other cars...more power to u and THEN I THINK U MADE A GOOD DEAL
hence. i think for the things i am looking for in a car...the tc simply is not the best deal. if what ur looking for is crazy pwr...etc.etc.etc....then the tc IS the best deal for u...
therefore, i think the cause of all these problems is that we have diff expectations of a car. and i think we can all agree and ur an idiot if u dont agree with this, that the tc is not the best buy for EVERYBODY.
in the end just get what you want and only you no what is more important to you.

I haven't run into a single problem (aside from self-tuning, which the problem was running rich. Professionally tuned now, which I should have been from the beginning.), and now that I have my new clutch, flywheel, motor mounts and tune, the car feels like it's going to be running forever. As far as mileage, yes I have to use premium. On a completely boost happy, 70% city/30% hwy (my daily driving routine), I average 22-23MPG, compared to 24-25 when I was stock. If I'm all highway, I get 34-36MPG, compared to the 31MPG I got stock, and I still haven't tested a full, boostless, all highway tank. I wouldn't doubt that hitting 37MPG would be possible.
Fine. Its not a 2 door corolla. Its the PASEO re-incarnated.

And it's more like a tC producing 287WHP or a V6 Camry producing 220WHP. Not tC@235 and Camry@280.
But I agree, the tC isn't the best option for everyone. There is no such thing as the perfect car. But you're trying to compare a mid-size sedan, to a touring coupe. Compare the tC to things in its class, and in its price-range. Civic EX coupe, Cobalt LS coupe, Acura RSX (a stretch, because the RSX is more of a sports coupe than a touring coupe). When you actually make that comparison, the tC is MILES ahead.

Look. I didnt expect the fan-boys on here to give this idea a fair shake. If you have the horse power #s on your car tatood on your ___, you are a fan-boy.
Plenty of people chimed in to agree with me. People, I can assume own Scions.

Are you telling me that people on a fan-boy website are more than likely fan-boys of the cars on the site?
Im simply shocked.
Could you please tell me how many horsepower your car has again. Please please.

It has nothing to do with the cars. You started this thread by saying Pure Pricing was a ripoff in this economy. Many people have come in and said otherwise, giving solid facts. You've failed miserably at backing up your claim, and because of that, you're attempting to resort to personal attacks. As stated by almost everyone else in this thread, just stop. You're making yourself look more and more like a tool.
haha....yellowhoodie...it's just not the car for me at that price....and price is an important factor for me....and i just dont like anything except toyota...since its still the same price im just prob. gonna go buy a celica...which of course is the same category unless u count that as a "sport" but im figuring since tc replaced celica we can kinda compare....im thinking of for later down the road instead of the tc at this pure price which I believe is too much im gonna go get a celica...the version w/the two headlight look....the sexiest one in my opinion....
and for those that ask y dont i buy a used scion tc...for some reason on particular toyota models i notice some crazy high resale values...the tacoma and tc beign at the top of my list....so thats y im not buying used....
still will stay toyota....i just hope u realize pure price is meant for exactly you "young" guys...no offense intented...but for someone that can haggle very well....i am going the haggle route...
yellowhoodie
i understand pure price was created to not haggle
but i also read somewhere that it was created so some ppl didnt get really low prices and some get really high prices....so it's "communism" in a way...and i use that term VERY lightly....everyone gets the same price
so basically anyone that wouldnt have gotten a good deal is getting kinda one...and everyone that would have gotten a good deal is getting an ok one....
so i look at it this way...instead of me paying scion lets say $400-500 more for arguments sake....i choose to save that money and simply argue w/a salesman...for some ppl its too much...but i love just the threat of walking out on a salesman and haggling....
so for most of the people on this site as you all are "young: i would advice u to buy pure price since u statistically most likely WONT get a good price on a haggled car
but for us that are good at it...y not take advantage of our skills and save some dough
and im betting jake woulda never even thought of ford....ill walk before i drive american

Did anyone else catch this comeback??
No offense but do you really not remember simple grade school "greater than/less than" math?
You've still come up with nothing to really secure how pure pricing is a rip off other then you don't like it. I don't know how may times the numbers have been posted against you and you still argue.
When you discount a car 3000 off of MSRP, you automatically reduce the trade in by 3000 dollars PLUS the normal depreciation once it hits the road. I still don't think you've got that through your head.
You know, I've not heard you complaint about how Saturn's "no haggle pricing" is a rip off and those are GM vehicles.
BTW, I don't know if anyone has ever tried but you CAN negotiate prices at the grocery store. You might not get much but it is possible and I've done it.
The tC is NOT a corolla and it's NOT a camry. You want a two door camry, buy a SOLARA. You want a two door corolla, buy a CELICA. The tC's closest relative isn't even on our shores. The Toyota Avenis is the closest living relative of the tC.

what you dont seem to realize is that even after you "haggle" with a salesman and THINK your getting a good deal...your not.
theyre still making a ton of money off of you so at the end of the day, theyre the ones going to bed with a smirk on their face.

The price of a new car has gone down, while the price of the Tc has gone up. Nuff said.

^ Thats great. If you dont want a tC dont get one. Its not about being a fanboy, some people just like the tC, there fore they get it. You can always find a better deal onanything, but if you want something, you get it. Even with its pure price, the tC is still alot of car for the money.

The guy that wrote this article failed to take into account so many contributing factors in the build cost of an automobile from then to now that it's crazy. I'll be willing to bet that if you built a 1971 Cutlass TODAY, right now, (pretending that NOTHING has changed since then but the price of the matrials, all productions methods, suppliers, everything was the same) the cost would be astronomical.
Once again, you've proven nothing.
ohh yeah, his numbers had absolutly zero meaning. If you even considered them as mathematically relevent then you've got a lot to learn.
