Default Quick question

As i was going to school this pick up truck cut me off on the highway. When he cut in front of me this pipe shaped object fell out of his bed and went under my car. It it the underbody pretty hard and this is the damage it created. Anyone know if it will cause any problems ?
The driver side one (nothing wrong with this one)
And two pictures of the passenger side one.

dang... i don't know... your motor mount is mounted to that bar.. i would want it as strong as possible if it was me.. and that looks like it took a good hit to it...

wow. yup, that's one of the engine mount...one thing to check is if both left and right sides are level...but it looks like a hard hit which might cause the right side be slightly elevated than the left--a no-no for an engine. Show the pics (nice ones too, how many megapixels?) to your trusted mechanic (or, Toyota Service Dept.)...it still looks solid based on the pix, but again I'd be worried if the engine's in level or not. let us know what assessment you get.

^ I think people were assuming it was in the front of the car.

well did you at least get a chance to get his insurance information? cause if you did, I would definitely get that fixed and let him pay for his stupidity when his insurance goes up.

It's kinda hard to get insurance details while driving at speed on the highway.

looks like you may have to shed your own skin on this one....hope it doesn't amount too much to use your own insurance....if the cost is not much just cash it, don't claim.

yea , was wondering if it was serious because it looks as though it protects stuff from hitting the things above it. like a guard. or is it essential that i fix it A.S.A.P.

i'd say get a couple or so of mechanics' opinion on it...it's not a protection bar per se but the actual bracket where the engine is supported/rests on...oh, i have this site i got from somebody in SL....check it out ...you'll find diagrams and parts and even the cost of most of the components(ex engine mounts, brackets, etc.).

find out what's wrong then maybe you can order the parts yourself....most important: find out if its safe to drive with this kind of damage....good luck!

I'd still get the dealer to look at the pictures to make sure you aren't ____ed for some reason.
