Default Remote Car Starter for tC?

Am I able to add a remote car starter to my 2008 tC without having to replace the factory keyless entry and alarm system?

I talked to a local installer not to long ago about this. You are going to need to leave the valet key in the car in order for the remote start to work. Because without a chipped key the fuel pump won't start.

Can you put remote in a manuel trans? I have a very strong feeling the answer is no, but not certain.

Why would you need to leave the Valet key in the car?

You wouldn't I would think. The remote starter bypasses the factory chipped key ignition system, you would just need a key to turn to run to select a gear (auto only) and be able to unlock the steering wheel.

the valet key is placed inside a module that is hidden under the dash (unless you want it in glovebox lol) its risky if the thieves knows where you hide it,if not they might still find it but its gonna take a while.. and yeah you can put it on a manual but its dangerous if you remote start while the car is on gear most shops wont do it on a manual.. and you can always put a bypass so it wont start while the gear is engaged or parking brake is not on.

Yeah its possible, usually you have to sign an agreement of some kind. I don't see why there would be more labor.

You need to leave a key in it because there is a chip in the key that allows to car to start. At least thats how it is in the 08.

the reason that you need a key built into the car is for the chip needed to start the car, and you can have it with manual. u just need a bypass....walterego on here has one on his manual

Like everyone's been saying... It can be done, it can be done to a manual. You just have to make sure you're not leaving the car without the brake engaged if it's a manual.

you don't need to leave the key in the car anymore, there is a module out there that does not need the key, its called the XK05 and all you do is program it with your key and thats it, no key left in the car or in a module.

Now a remote start can be done on a tC manual or auto, but you will need 3 extra relays on a manual and 2 extra relays on an auto. The extra relays are for the 2nd ignition wire and 2nd starter wire and the the 3rd for a manual only, is for the clutch bypass.

I would personally recommend a Compustar alarm/remote start system since they have a good rep. and also are legal to put on a manual transmission car.

If you have nay questions I can help, I installed mine myself.
