Default is rustproofing a good thing?

pretty close to ordering a tC, someone told me that rustproofing is a scam for a number of reasons, first because if the engineers really wanted you to rustproof why didnt they design the car in a manner that would accomadate it, and also its basically a chemical that is sprayed underneath your car so is the people applying it screw up they could mess up some components of the exhaust system and other stuff.... these might sound like paranoid, but rustproofing is around $300 extra so if i dont have to spend it i dont think i will...... is this a dealer scam?

If they offer a warranty on it (past mfg warranty), it's not a rip. Might still be a waste of money but it's not a rip.

but if it rusts prior to the expiration of your factory warranty then the fact that you rust proofed your car voids your factory warranty. Just make sure the rustproofer will give you equal if not better coverage-We dont push that stuff in Michigan-even when we are burries in snow and salt and dirt

im not sure i understand what u mean, scion gives their own factory rust warranty for 60 mons, so by rustproofing the car as soon as i get it might void the rust warranty, also im in ohio so thats why this is kind of a dilemma as u in Michigan would understand
