Scion tC reliability
i got 05 with 80k miles
rattles from like 3 maybe 4 different places ( probably few of them because of my exhaust and my aftermarket shocks, springs)
my bro has an 08 with 20k miles and the passenger windows is sometimes stuck. he has to press the window itself then it will open. toyota didnt do anything with it.

We've updated the results for the tC to include owner experiences through the end of March. A big thank you to everyone who helped to make this result possible.
With a repair frequency of just 22 repairs per 100 cars per year, the 2006 tC is better than average. The sample size is small, though.
We'll have further updates in August and November. With more participants, we could provide more precise information and cover all model years.

Just enhanced the related repair history survey so that it can (optionally) be used as a personal car maintenance record.
As always, more participants would be helpful.

Just registered my 08 tC. They're looking for more of that year to start having meaningful data to provide... so pop over and represent for our 2008 tC's.
I bought my first tc brand new which was my 2006, put a lot of miles on that one and was impressed with my problem free ride a few years later. other than the normal couple squeaks, rattles which were minor it was great. Hell every hatch back or car w/ an opening sun/moon roof will have those in time. It's just a fact...if ya dont like it, then it isnt the car for you then.
For me, I've had Toyotas for many years... so I turned around and bought another new tC... and still have that one today...bought it brand new 2 years ago and have only managed to rack up a whopping 8k on it so far. lol. At that rate I'd be dead before I'd hit the 100K mile club... only driving it 4k a year, comes out on nice weekends and then back into the garage isn't cutting it...lol.
Seriously though...back on topic... anyone else with a 2008 tC hop on there and register. Hell it only took me less than 5 mins. start to finish to get mine on there.

2007: 15
2006: 46
2005: 12
Better than average in all cases. Also very small sample size in all cases--which is likely the cause of the variation from year to year.

2005 Scion tC with 70,000 miles on it (lowered on coils). It's a daily driver and runs like brand new. Never had any issues with the motor or any parts on it. Receives the basic maintenance and she doesn't let me down.
We have updated results for the tC to include owner experiences through June 30, 2010.

Just in case anybody is interested on knowing how a high mileage 05 tC is doing after 6 years, bought June of 04, I have about 148K miles, no major mechanical issues, oem clutch went out at about 100K(these were hard miles too), I haven't replaced any of the fluids yet and I think I need a valve adjustment now, normal wear and tear, need new axles and third gear grinds every once in a wild. Also normal squeaks and rattles nothing that drives me crazy thou, this car and engine have been very reliable and good to me and its still going strong.Oh....A/C still blows cold air and I use it allot, never done anything to it and replaced the oem battery not too long ago.
