Default Should I wait!?

My silver tC manual with lip spoiler is scheduled for wednesday delivery.

My motivation on getting a new vehicle is to lower my monthly car payments. I'm currently paying 500/month on my IS w/ 2 years remaining. I can drop the payment to about 250/month with a tC. Also my car is up for registration so I thought I'd try to get rid of it before then. Dealer trade-in for the IS is a joke so I'm not doing that.

Now since I will not be able to sell my IS before registration is due and all the recent issues I hear from the tC (creaks in sunroof, manual transmission problems), should I wait for the early bugs to be sorted out and keep my IS for a few more months or even wait for a 2006 tC?

Thanks.

That would be the smart thing to do... but i depends on you, are you really wanting the payments... or just get the tC have lower payments and if something goes wrong it should be covered on the warranty.

Can't you re-finance into a longer term loan on the IS with a local bank or credit union to lower your payments? Look into that, you may even get a better interest rate.

I don't know how widespread issues with the TC sunroof and manual really are, but I only bought the XB in it's first year cuz I knew it had been out in Japan for a few already. I'd wait.

What are you planning to do with your IS and how far off was the appraisal, they should be pretty realistic (it's part of the Scion Dealer agreement). You could be stuck with both car payments if you can't dump the IS. Compare edmunds.com, cars.com, ebay.com, autotrader.com and kbb.com, and maybe get a "buy bid" from a Lexus dealer to get a idea what it's worth.
On the technical bugs, Toyota/Scion stands behind their product and any minor bugs will be taken care of, they are awesome in that way. I have talked with our service manager and he hasn't had any complaints on any of the tC's we service. That isn't a reason to postpone the purchase.
But that being said before you make a decision this big, you should consider all the pros and cons of the purchase. You must be brutally honest with yourself, so if the pros outweigh the cons go for it.

my TC is getting ALL of the air vents replaced due to them turning on their own because of the air power causing them to do so.

If its in get it. Any problems with the car Toyota will fix it. So don't worry about the minor problems. Everything will be under warrenty.

My wait was about 2.5 weeks. Not long but I wasn't too picky about color.
Black or silver were my choices and silver came in first.

my wait was 4 weeks.. but seriously about the air vents.. yes that sucks.. but air vents? when chevy and ford owners have engine's blowing up and axles falling off? I know nothing is perfect.. not even toyota.. but in this imperfect world I'd take an air vent getting slapped back in and on my way then an engine or electrical system going bad..

i say get your car.. i have a newer production model and the vents are the right tension.. and even if mine do go bad.. so what? slap some new ones in and go on my way..

If you are going to be over your head in debt, why even think about getting another car? That's crazy.. you actually have to ask us if this is okay? no way! If you can't sell your IS300 and you have these payments.. um.. maybe wait would be a good idea.. the car will be there next year.. and yeah the bugs will be worked out..

I've had two on mine so far.. e-brake needs adjusting and the radio sometimes doesn't play my mp3 discs.. dealer has to see the radio mess up and i get a new one.. i kind of expected little bugs like this first year..

you honestly have no idea. its so ____ing annoying. and ill tell you one thing, you may say ____ like this is petty, but i find it more petty to not complain about something this small after giving someone 19,000 dollars of my money. try that on for size.

Thanks for all the feedback.
I'm going in on Wednesday to do the paperwork.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with my IS right now. I might refinance it then my total payments for both cars will be about what my IS is right now.
