On that note, most people don't WANT to go through all the trouble of finding a salesman that won't be a total screwhole to you, and then have to haggle with him to pay what the car should be worth. I just walked into a dealership, told them what I wanted, had them order it for me, and a month later I had a Scion exactly how I wanted it. No hunting, no haggling, no fussing (except for the delivery). </threadjack>
If you let customer service decide what car you get, it just shows a lot of character. I mean unless a car isn't a big deal to you, then fine. A quick purchase and you're on the go sounds fine.
However, if you're into performance or into cars in general, letting a salesman determine what car you will drive?
Yeah...thats why facts about how "most" people in the US are pretty ____ poor.

Out of all of them, for the money the tC came with the most. And it is fine as heck to drive, especially after your put about $1200 in suspension work.
If you were to get the Spec version of the tC, with the S/C and coilovers it would still be less than the Si. And overall perform MUCH better.

Honda would not let me even test drive the thing till they ran my credit, and saw I had a large down payment........at that point when I was done I left and went to Toyota.......in the end good customer service and a lower price to go was the winner.....sorry honda........
The Si is a quick car...when speaking of cars the language is so broad it's hard to determine what's what. But mid 14's is great for a 4 banger. The previous (2003-2006 I believe?) hit low 14's. That's with 60 more HP.
It's just funny seeing tC owners sit down and say mid 14's is still (when the subject is only about the Si and tC) slow. How many tC owners will have their tC even hit 14's? Seriously? Bone stock.
It's just human nature though. Broke people act like money ain't a thing when they buy poop. I could sit here and say yeah...100k ain't that much money...and yet I could be stuck on 40k a year.
When buying a car, customer service will just determine who and where I will buy the car from, not the car itself. You must be a flippin' idiot if you let customer service determine your car.
And this is my whole point, lower price...yeah the tC is at a lower price...but as I said originally, if you could legitimately afford both cars, I have a hard time believing you chose the tC.
And nobody ever said the tC wasn't slow. It's slower than an Si, but just because the Si is a tiny bit faster than a turtle, doesn't make the Si some ravenous sports car. Given the choice between cow turd and elephant turd, they BOTH stink! And if one is slightly less stunky than the other, then that's a great thing. But being that one stinks less than the other, i'm not going to have a craving for elephant turds! A turd is a turd. We'd all be driving sports cars if we could afford it. But the fact of the matter is that both cars are SLOW. And i'm not going to pay for an over-priced turd!
For the price, I'd throw in a few grand more and get a real car driving the CORRECT wheels (AWD or RWD). I'd be very happy in a base WRX (non STi) or a 350Z, and those would blow the doors off an Si all day long.
That's my last post on this subject.
Do you realize the Si and the tC are priced differently?

not everyone picked the tC because it was cheaper you know... I picked it because it seemed like a more reliable platform for boost. (I mean come on, its MADE for it). Honda makes great products, anyone that disagrees with me, thats fine. To the best of my knowledge, honda doesnt offer OEM performance upgrades for the cars (now bikes, the HRC division does).
The age old debate of what you could afford/want goes WELL beyond a civic SI. Id prefer a caymen S, but then I'd have to give up all my other motorsports, and other car too.
The real comparo would be between a s/c tc and a SI as many have suggested.

You're wrong. There's not a car on this planet that i can't afford & i bought a 2008 tc. It's not my only car but it's definitley the car i drive the most. I understand the si is faster, i was a die hard honda guy when i was younger & have owned a civic si. The fact is, some people just plain like the tc better. You live with your choice & we'll live with ours.

Its ONLY a car.. I get more a$s cuz I have a phat little house, then a 911 RS. Ive already done the porsche ownership twice, and IF you have ANY idea of what I am talking about - it LOOKS great in the garage, but doesnt look so good when they are in the shop for 3-4 weeks on end. I had a 944T and a 928S. And I cant envision going back to something where a clutch job was in the neighborhood of $2450. Timing belt job w/ water pump (regular maintanence) every 30k or 5 years runs a good $1600. Minor parts are 3 times more expensive, and the labor is double normal rates. (ive paid up to $100 an hour for labor on the 928.. )
