Default startup prob

Lately, I'd say 80% of the time i try starting my car, it wont start the first time, it doesnt even roll or anything, I'd turn the key, the radio would go off, and the engine would not budge. I thought about it, and was like oh, maybe if i press the clutch after i turn the electricity on then it might start, iono... maybe? Well taht wasnt the problem. I usually just got to let off the clutch thenn press it again and it'll start up, but what's wrong? is this normal? i can't go to the dealer about this, evertime i try it there it worx. Only once or twice has the car rolled and immediately cut out, not like the sound where it's dead and needs to be jumped, but it would roll for a second and totally shut off.

Just press the clutch pedal all the way to the floor. Theres a switch that needs to be depressed in order for the car to start. I find that sometimes the edge of my foot hits the dead pedal and the car wont start. If I slide my foot over a little bit I can depress the pedal all the way down and it always starts.

Do you have an aftermarket alarm with remote start/engine immobilizer?

i had the same problem. i added some little rubber bump stoppers on the metal tab on the clutch that pushed on the clutch start switch (i think it's called neutral safety or something) i wasn't pushing down far enough. also, check your floormats, sometimes they can get bunched up or aftermarket ones are thicker and won't let the switch engage to start the car.

no grounding wires or remote alarm, but today, i was comming home from school, i press down the pedal, turn the key and it did it again, nothing happened, i kept the key turned, and i put alot of force on the pedal and it started, i guess maybe my switch is way down there, it felt liek i indented the carpet for it to start. but yeah, no big deal either way, just a little curious

Just remember to fully compress the clutch. If you dont activate that switch it wont start.

There is a DIY on how to fix this little problem, just search for it under the tC forum. Im not exactly sure what it is, but the guy wasnt doing it for this problem, but im truly sure it will help you out quite a bit. That stupid switch is definitely a safety item.

No doubt guys, that clutch needs to be jammed to the floor. I even did a 'half start' a couple of times before I came to this realization. Pretty embarressing in a parking lot full of people.
