welcome to the forum

the topic has been discussed before. i do agree the tires do not have enough grip, but i think they are alright for all season radials.

the goodyears thye give you are . I hate them. I'm saving up for some nice rims and tires come spring (don't want to ruin them 'playing' in the snow)

I agree, the stock tires could be better. For the first few weeks they were great, but after taking the car on some country roads, I was dissapointed.

It was raining on my way to school today, and everytime I accelerate the tires slip, I know tires are not supposed to have perfect grip, but smallest increase in speed with cause them to slip.

I am planning on upgrading..

yes the re92s are . i expected this when the stock wrx had em and numerous people complained of the ____ty tires in them.

probably the best upgrade you can do now is upgrade the tires. they are okay for everyday driving but if you start to accelerate in turns, prepare for slipping.

They'll stop being quite so slippery when you get some miles on them. One of the reasons you'll spin the tires accelerating out of turns is the open differential which will allow the tire with the least traction to spin like crazy. The tires are not quite as terrible as everybody makes them out to be, but they're not the greatest. They could be much worse, believe me.

I agree with you guys, I'm not a big fan of the tires either. I'm looking to upgrade soon and I was wondering what type you guys suggest. I'm not a big tire guy so I don't know what tire would be best for the car.

I just ordered my tC last week. Going for custom wheels and tires did come to my mind a few times. I wonder if I'll get a better deal if I upgrade when the wheels and tires are brand new? Assuming I can get some money back from trading in the stock ones.

well i went with some pirelli pzero nero m&s.. had a couple bad ones (out of round), but i've come to expect that from tire makers lately.. the tires are quiet, stick well in all temps and weather (dry/wet even 38degree rain).. so i'd recommend them.. i got the original size 215/45-17.. i'd get them from your local discount tire or tire shop, that way they can replace them easy if they are out of round.. i ran into too many excuses from the tire rack to get an out of round replaced... so be warned..

Default stock tires

Mine came with the potenza zr17s. I took it on a rampage through an empty, rain covered parking area one night, and was actually surprised at how well they did for stock tires.

Do any of you know how they handle snow? I know they won't do great, but reasonably well is good for me (i grew up driving rwd on the snow). I was concerned on the z rating, but bridgestone calls them mud and snow and claims they do not exhibit the radically poor performance from a standard z rated tire. Just wondered if anyone else has tried them on the snow yet. Besides.... the winter is highly overrated in the north. I live in minneapolis, and have very rarely actually driven on an icy road, they stay pretty clear in the winter for the most part.

im planning on taking trips into the mountains this winter for some snow boarding action. i've been hearing mixed comments on the tires, mostly bad and some alrite but none of them are great.. can these tires hold up to some decent driving on slick/icy/snowy roads?
