Default third piece brake light

i wonder if its possible to get it all LED and have it programed. like knight rider some ppl might think thats ride but i think it would look good. instead of it going back and forth.. id have it going from both side going towards the middle when i brake. something for the ppl behind me to look at and talk about when they are bored.... what do you guys think?

That is serious rice man. The brake light looks fine the way it is, but it IS a Scion after all. Everyone has to make it their own style. But damn man... I just hope this doesn't end up being the next civic rollin around with cheezy ___ body kits and stickers. "My TRD stickers add 15 hp alone!"

I don't think that would be too ricey. Might look really cool. I say, if you think you'll like it give it a shot. It's your car so as long as you think it looks good, who cares what anyone else thinks? -Jayme

sounds cool, which means it probably isnt legal. Everything that is cool is illegal. Plus it might be "too distracting" if it blinks or moves in any way. too bad.

i dont think it would be illegal. its not going to blink really fast that would annoy ppl.. it would just blink as if your looking at one of those arrows blinking on a construction telling you that the lane your on is closed. as long as its red i dont thing it would be illegal. plus your turn signal blinks... whats the diff in that... i guess ill have to check with the local po pos..

in NYC it is illegal... having any lights that flash or sweep is illegal... only police cars and unmarked law enforcement are allowed.

although i DO wish the whole thign would light up... seems kinda ___ that they didn't just light up the whole strip... would it have cost that much more? it doesn't evern relfect all the way through.

What sucks, is that we all know it is going to become that.

Default how about the whole thing?

Anyone out there, like parts distributors care to talk to some aftermarket light manufacturers in producing an LED unit that would go the entire length of that 3rd brake light.. i do think toyota cut costs by making it smaller.. but i would definitely buy a kit that allowed me to have the whole thing light up with LED's.. just solid, not sweeping.. yeah that would probably be illegal here in michigan too.. but solid would be awesome.. get the word out to those aftermarket people!

I can't see why it would be illegal....yes it's a distraction, but you WANT it to be...it shows other people that your stopping so you want them to notice!

Check out the LED bars from varad.com , you should be able to get one with the scroll setting. Or maybe one of the theft deterent thingies, since they scroll. Just wire it into the third brake light wiring, that's what I did with my LED's that I mounted under the rear window (pics to follow later when it's dark outside), but mine just come on and off with the brakes, no scan or flash.

These "chasing" LEDs are on bike everywhere.. I don't believe thay are illegal, as long as they light like they 're supposed to when you brake.

FLASHING LIGHT BAR
- Lights flash back-and-forth in sequence across front or rear of vehicle
- Available in red or amber lights
- Eye-catching visual display makes vehicle easier to see in bad weather

If you're handy with electronics you could take this apart and wire it up inside your brake light.
