when I added a kit to my grand am it made the ride hieght about 4.75", but it also changed the approach angle so it would scrape when exiting/entering driveways. But I havent had any problems with speed bumps. 5" is fine. I cant wait to get the tC next spring.

damn, i'd think there would be some DOT standards or something for speedbumps. 8" speedbumps, and 4" of clearance, yeah, haha, you might have some trouble. seriously though, that's no good man. I don't want my car see-sawing out in front of the grocery store for everyone to see.

____, I guess i just have to actually pay attention to road quality more and adjust where I drive. That's the price for driving with tC TRD style.

hmm what angle would you come at a speedbump or whatever to get over it without scraping?

I'm starting to get discouraged.. my toyota dealer wants $429 for installation of the springs and my mechanic wants about $350... I don't understand.

I think my dealer is just being a jerk about me ordering them myself... There's no way they are gonna charge six hundred something for the option when they recieve the springs themselves.

It just doesn't seem fair to me. I have the springs, but I can't find anyone to install them for under $300 like I had hoped.

Should I just bite the bullet and pay the $350, or do you think I could get a better deal if I keep looking?

I just got a quote from Northridge Toyota for $560 labor only on TRD springs!!! This is their best deal, with standard being close to $650. They said it'll take them all day, about 2 hours per wheel to install springs for a total of 8 hours!

Seems like a fast one to me, no?

haha, thas bs..me and my friend put in springs to my 03 corolla in 6 hours..and that includes the time where we didnt have all the tools, go to store and come back..tool breaks, go to store and come back...another tool breaks, go to store and come back....and using a walmart impact wrench which took forever on some bolts and the spring compressor..they have air tools, car lift, and would probably only take them 1-2 hours if that.

Default tC with TRD Spring, Shocks, and Struts Rear Sway Pics

Here is My White Scion tC with the TRD Suspension Installed

I would add it all sway bar included (it has two settings I went with the lightest)and use the lowered struts and shocks. The ride is fine.

I will be eBay-ing my stock setup to include the 17" rims!

Anyone kow the specs on the stock suspension?

Cheers and thanks,
olarmyone

^^Um, so how does it ride? Did you drive it before you switched the suspension? How is it different?

WOW!! I'm definitely in the wrong business.. I personally have a set of air tools, and some good knowledge working with cars and suspension etc, and if it takes ANY dealership that long to install springs, then they have RETARDED TECHS... I could do 3 or 4 sets of springs in 8 hours, and at their rates, I could make about $2400 daily doing it... that's just insane.. Hell, a transmission swap doesn't even take half that long ( I know, I've done PLENTY of them lol)..

My dad (retired Toyota tech) and his friend (current Toyota tech) did the springs in his driveway in less than two hours. He told me it took less than 30 minutes to do the front springs but longer to do the back because he had to take something out of the interior (not sure what) to reach the rear springs.

I would guess that any reputable dealership or shop could not charge you for more than 2 hours of labor.

That said, the springs are an awesome upgrade. The ride is only slightly stiffer but you can really feel the grab of the tires on turns. You'll immediately feel more confident in what the car can do. For the money, the single best performance upgrade you can make.

yap yap, spring is about 2hours max. and should not cost over $65-$75 a hour for labor.
i got my springs, short shocks install around like 4 hours. I was pain when start to do the rear one, so many things has to come out.
your turnk floor mate, side panel, turnk light, rear seat has to be fold down to take out the bottome then u see the body.

BTW: for people who going to do the shocks, you will need machine to do it. Since short shock & springs combo, no way you can push the spring down by your hand and lock it.
