Default Vibration on my tC...is that normal?

hi guys, i'm still new in this forum...got my tC for almost 3 weeks now(A/T)..but there is something that starts bugging me...everytime when i start my tC or put it in park, i can feel that the car is somewhat vibrating/shakes(the vibrating can be felt from the staring wheel and seats)...i'm not sure if that is normal or not..but i just don't feel right...i asked my friend to feel it while i have the engine started and he told me that was kinda abnormal, cause he is driving an 3yrs old corolla didn't even feel any kinds of vibration like the one i have in my tC..do anyone if that is normal? thanks...

Mine does not do that... I also have a A/T and when I sit in park it does not vibrate like that? But you are going to have to be the person that can tell if it is wrong. Did start recently? Or just over time? I would take it in... :?

You wouldn't happen to be going 20mph when you put in park are you...'cause that could have something to do with it...

I have a manual, so I can't help although I did have a rattle......but it was just a piece of metal stuck in the muffler.

It does idle a little low, at least that what it seems like - probably has something to do with saving gas, but the vibration is not intrusive.

By any chance was the A\C on? Sometimes when you are idling and the A\C is running the idle will occasionally dip a little causing resonance you would feel in the wheel or shifter. Many cars seem to do this especially newer ones.

thanks for the reply all, the a/c is not on while its idiling(just have the regular air on)...i can feel the vibirate from my stearing wheel and set... guess the only way i can find out if its a problem is by taking it back to dealer. hopefully nothing wrong with it...

My A/T also idles a bit rough, but nothing that's bringing up flags. I figure the engine's probably running a rich air/fuel ratio to keep certain parts cool (catalytic converter?) since there isn't any airflow when you first start the car because you're not moving. Does it happen after you've driven around a bit? Unless your RPM's well below 800 at idle, I wouldn't worry about it.

So the car only does this when it is in park? If the car does it when you are in neutral or sitting still with your foot on the brake as well then I wouldn't worry much. In that case I would think that you may just happen to have a harmonic vibration at the engine speed your car idles at. Any of a zillion different seemingly minor things could cause that. I realize it's annoying but it will probably go away on its own and I doubt there would be much chance a mechanic could find the cause.

On the other hand if the car really only does this while in park that would cause me a little more concern.

check see if your radiator fan is on when ideal, that will make the car vibrate a bit and more noisy.

i tired it with neutral and with my foot on the brake and samething happens...so, i guess that would be normal then...its just the way the vechical is designed...is there anyway to solve the problem? its really annoying sometimes...

You can take the car in have them attempt to locate the source of the vibration. I think it will be difficult to find though. I would probably take some time and try to find it myself and then take it in. That way you can show them specifically what's wrong and you won't have to deal with as much of their BS.

Rattles and vibrations drive me nuts so I feel your pain. I have a feeling it will go away on its own, but it's a new car and if it bothers you you should make them fix it.

i have an auto tC and no vibration at all when going into park or when in drive.. nothing.. i would have your dealer check your engine and transmission mounts.. sounds like there might be a bad one.. mine is smooth, no feeling whatsoever..
