Default warming engine cold weather

i have 05 tc and usually warm up 5-10 b4 i drive. but just heard i dont need thst much time. but if i dont warm up, i hear knocking sounds (not during driving but when my car is completely stop but transmission in driving mode). and after couple minutes when engine gets to the regular temp, the sounds goes off.

I don't know what temperatures you're talking about, but if it's over 30 degrees outside and your car is knocking after a few minutes, I wouldn't be too optimistic that there isn't a problem. More information please. Maybe a video of the sound?
