That's why you don't hook up the tubing directly to the intake. The filter should take care of it.

I plan on doing this same thing. Convert the Injen CAI to short ram, buy the Kaminari reverse cowl hood, dremel those non-functioning air vents, connect tubing that leads into the engine bay, and wrap them in head shield.

I average 20mpg. Amateur stoplight racer.
the reverse cowl of the real kaminari hood already has a big hole there.

only 23 in my automatic... but it's almost all city, and a lot of stop-and-go during my commutes.

what i do is set my trip meter to zero after i fill up and then on my next fill up i look at my trip meter and divide that by how much i put in on that fill up. then i zero the meter and go about my way until the next gass stop.

Divide the miles driven by the number of gallons used to fill the tank.

Speaking of A/C and windows down etc. Mythbusters tested that. I believe their results were that it doesn't make a difference. Anybody see and remember that episode?

Yeah in that episode they did an explorer i believe... A big V8 with a large cabin that can cause a lot of drag. In my opinion they should have done it on a car. That show is not very "controlled" sometimes. But anyway, about the show. They compared, windows up and A/C to windows down and NO A/C. Not once did they do windows up and NO A/C. Its a proven fact that when the A/C clutch engages, it causes parasitic drag and you will lose some MPGs. Maybe not a lot, but it will happen

Yeah I thought that too. Or at least try a few different sets of them. I've always heard something about if you're under 40 or so that windows down is best (for keeping cool and staying efficient) and A/C on if you're cruising down the highway.

In my RSX I've found that it really makes little difference although I can't say I went at it with full scientific force.

Wow, for some reason my MPG jumped from 26 to 30. I don't know why my driving style has not changed. Is there a "winter blend" and "summer blend" of gas or something. Ive been going to the same gas station the whole time.

guys ive had my tc for almost a month now and i finally hit a record (for me ) 26ish mpg!! all it took was driving to school on the highway cruise control as much as possible. damn i used to get 22 and i was driving real slow with no ac on i thought it was messed up. now i just drive normal with ac half way blasting and am loving it. so i guess driving in the city no matter how you drive does make a big difference.

About 25.
The tC has a HUGE range.
All city, it's about 20.
All HWY, it's about 32.

Odd engine.

Regarding the myth busters episode; they only went 45mph or so. Which is not much drag. Considering that drag rises exponentialy, if you were to go on the highway with windows open the drag would increase significantly. This is not to say A/C has minimal effects. I just believe its better to drive with windows in the city and A/C on the highway, since most of us don't drive the speed limit.
