I bought this special car change-holder at Advance Auto.

It has slots for quarters, dimes, nickels with push springs and stuff... I put it un the center console box... it works well for me...

Probably costs you $5.

Yeah, I don't think that little compartment by the shifter was ever meant to be a cell phone holder. Gone through two phones since I got the tC and they didn't even come close to fitting in there. I'd say it for change and other things smaller than cell phones.

man this forum is full of a bunch of smart ___'s.
When I dont put the change back in my wallet, I put it in the TOP armrest, or in the cubby hole under the radio, or some times in the cup holder.

I use my "Cell Phone Holder" to cradle the JVC Satellite Radio (Sirius of course)

My phone (Motorola V710) fits -perfectly- in the holder by the shifter. I've even got the high-capacity battery in it, and it's like they designed the compartment around my phone.

And I keep my change and loose stuff in the top armrest compartment.
