First, I would have to say it's a terrible idea, and you don't make enough money to upkeep an Evo. Then I would say you're gonna do whatever you want, so I won't give you financial advice. Car advice, however...

1. How much is the Evo? If it only has 20,000 miles on it, I'm betting the price is up there. You could get a Mazdaspeed 3 for about the same price. ($25k) Sure, it's FWD instead of AWD, but it HAULS. And while this generation of Evo is about to be "the old model," the MS3 is gonna be a "daaaaamn that's a sweet new ride" model.

2. Have you ever sat in an Evo? There's torture chambers with more creature comforts. The interior isn't simply spartan to save weight or something, it's just poorly designed. The interior is where you'll be spending 100% of your time driving, not the exterior. The MS3 has a beautiful interior compared to the Evo, and it has loads of features on the GT model. HIDs and all that good stuff. Just because it's cheaper doesn't mean it has less. Also, it would be a used car (Evo) vs. a new car (MS3).

3. There's nothing wrong with your tC, you've done a crapload of work to it. Why not just keep it?

i would seriously think about over a few more times.... if u can afford it GET A NEW ONE!!
keep this in mind, u dont buy an evo for a daily driver. the person who had this car beat the **** out of it.
Used evo with 20000 miles...and i bet u get one of those short warrentees, prolly needs a new clutch, brakes, some new tires, and an alarm that tell you its about to get stolen or broken into. not to mention the mods for this car are more expensive. and insurance+ car payment easily over 600 a month with a decent license.

i can tell u this... if u end up getting an evo you will LOVE it!! i know i love mine

if I were in your shoes, I would not get the Evo. Almost all of the reasons being money. 20K to be on your own and owning an Evo is tough. Excluding other expenses, the Evo is 1 of the most expensive to insure, youre going to HAVE to buy expensive tires, motor oil, brake pads, etc etc. Just about everything on the Evo seems expensive. If youre really into that car, I recommend going over to EvolutionM and seeing/asking around how much it is to just own 1.

dude I was in your shoes a year ago when I traded my Bnew Scion Tc which I just used for 5 months with 12k miles and bought a Bnew 2006 evoIX se.They bought the Scion sticker price. As for your question, you said your stilll in college . I think YOu need to hold on to your car for a fwew more years coz it's not just the price( monthly payments) of the evo you need to worry about, its' the insurance, and the maintenance of the car it self.i'me paying $170/month for it with a clean record and I have another car insured on the account also.if you need to look for more info about evo's here's evolution forum http://forums.evolutionm.net/showthread.php?t=248173 ..hope this helps.

i would think it hard of buying a used evo cause some of them were pretty much beat up. and when you bought it new your not suppose to exceed 3k rpm for the next 600 miles. It's a break in period. so you won't know if the 1st owner followed the break in procedure.. big possibilty you wont be covered by warranty.

Well, I went to the Mitsubishi dealership earlier. They let me test drive a red EVO MR. Wow! that this is a beast!!! I love it, I love the Recaro Seats, the color, the rear spoiler...almost everything about it rocks!

There is one thing that was weird though, the backlight of the guages were so dimm!!! I don't know if there were a tab where you can adjust the lighting, but the person who was helping me couldn't find it. I drove it a few blocks and I was already happy.

We came back to the dealership and they wanted me to stay so they can appraise my tC. After getting the mileage, condition, and any modifications, they were offerring me $18,700 for my tC. I don't know if that is a good price or not, but I only paid $19,600 for my tC before taxes, registration, etc. I do have the supercharger and they said that they were going to give me an extra $2000 because I have the Supercharger and exhaust on.

What do you guys think? Good or no good!?!

BTW, I still owe like $15,000+ on my tC.

The EVO that i drove was a brand new car. They only have one white EVO 9 with 40,000 miles on it. So I asked them to show me the brand new ones. They have a ton of EVO, I think it's hard to sell EVOs.

The finance guy said that he can give me a 6.25% APR because of my 700+ FICO score. And they would take away the $4000 markup and sell the brand new EVO MR to me at MSRP. Sounds pretty tempting. So the price for the EVO before taxes, registration, fees, etc would be $34,000-something...can't remember clearly.

Well, what do you guys think?

The finance guy also said that he'll work with me to get my payments at around $300 a month for 60 months. I don't know how he'll do it, but he will call me back on Friday. Now all I gotta do is think hard about whether I should do it or not. Help me now guys.

Default wow dude..

dude.. u'r forgetting u'r trade.. u can't just sign the car over to some person and they have u'r payments.. their credit has to be good enough to carfry those payments.. it seems like u have a 750+ to have payments as low as u do... so she'd have to have somewere near the same, or else her payments would rise, and u'r ? about how do u do it, it's simple,

just refinance the car in her name, like u said u won't make an money, but more than likly she'll pay more than you were, but it's all good cuz insurance would be cheaper for her, being a girl and all...

and as for droping the 4 grand, they just say it to make it sound all great,

Take this from an ex-car salesman and an loan officer.....first off markups dont exist. Thats there way of bending you over. so tell them you want below MSRP...Second for $34,000 on a loan your looking at payment of 650 because the rule of thumb is $200 for every 10k you loan out....

Also, if your really want to do this go to edmunds.com or someother website and look at loan payment cal. it will give a good idea of a real payment.

Whatever mits dealer you went too don't go back there...

Default no

well u have on 06, with what 20,000 miles on it? prolly give you 13000 for it, if that, then your upside down..
if he tells u he'll pay the car off , then he's gonna get u on intrest, and if not intrest, then he'll try the price of the car, o we couldn't drop it that low, then they will drop it just enough to pay for the diffrence they "suposedly" paid for your car.. .it sucks cuz the tcs resale cheap, but when they sell 'em back to the public, their ony like 1000 less than brand new, plus with you buyin a used evo, rate would be higher, then he could REALLY screw u on the trade in, try and go for someone else refinancing it.. it might help more than a trade it.

Just going on would I rather have a tC or an EVO? I'd pick the EVO.
I'd sell my girlfriend and get an EVO... If you can swing it do it. It is hell-a expensive but it is such a nice car. I personally like it better than the STi...

No, my tC only has 15,000 miles on it. When I was talking to the finance person, he said he'll offer me 18,700 + 2,000 for my tC. If I understand him clearly, that is 20,700 for my tC and that is a pretty good deal. If he could sell me the 2006 EVO MR for $34,000+ with an APR of 6.25% for 60 months, will that be a good deal?

I will talk to the dealership again to clarify everything first. So far, the deal is pretty good. I will try to haggle the price down to 32,000 and see if they will buldge.
