Right now, I'm paying $277 a month for car payments and $240 a month for insuring my tC. Phone bill is like $25 a month. I don't really have to worry about credit card bills right now because there is no interest until 2009. I owe about $15,000 on my tC.

I'm just starting to do more in depth research of the EVO. I know i'll be paying for premium fuel with the EVO, heck, I'm already paying Premium Fuel for my tC. I've heard that the turbo lag on the EVO is pretty bad. Anyone can chime in about this? And Gas mileage is terrible!
Jesus you pay 240 month for insurance? I pay 150 for three cars full coverage. 06 Corolla, 07 TC, and 93 mazda.
Yeah. I think it's pretty F-ed up too! But I checked many other Insurance companies and they aren't beating that price. It's my policy only though, so that is why it is so expensive. I am not insured through my parents or anyone else. Some people are insured under their parents, so they pay hella cheap every month. Anyone know how I can get a lower monthly insurance payment?

Third party insurance, or online comapnys IE esurance.com maybe

IMO, I think evos are disgustingly ugly, but they are cheap for the power ... so that could be good. It is also a mitsu though and I never hear good things about them ... just sayin. I would keep the tC ... I mean ... insurance will suck and yeah ... do you really race that often? lol.

I'm gonna keep my tC, and I'm gonna wait for the new breed of Japanese sports cars to come out. All I know about my next car is that it will be RWD.

I'm still in college, expecting to graduate in a little over a year. Working full time. Making less than 20,000 a year. What do you guys think. Would I be able to handle the payments and insurance for five years or so?

Are there anything negative about the EVO? One reason, why I want to upgrade is because I want more power. The tC is just not making it for me. I'm young, do you think choosing to upgrade to an EVO right now will ruin my credit and my future?

Whenever I see an EVO parked somewhere I always check it out like it was a hot chick or something. The front end just looks so damn hot! And all those modified EVOs are just much more appealing.

Help me out!
imo, i think you should wait another year. here are the reasons why.

first, you will be graduating in about a year, which is about the same time the evo X should be out. a lot of current evo owners might trade in their evo for a X. so the evo VIII and IX should be a little bit more reasonable for you to purchase.

second, insurance is killer. if i only had the evo and evo only it would be 335 a month with state farm. so what i did was i bought another car, a pos 95 elantra and selected that as my primary vehicle(which it is). my insurance dropped from 335a month for the evo alone to 285 a month for both vehicles. still crazy expensive. when i had my tC and tC only, my insurance was 223 a month. <--use this as a reference point

third, gas. currently i am getting roughly 21mpg with mixed driving. if i stay out of boost, 24 maybe 25 mpg is possible. remember also, PREMIUM ONLY no more regular like the tC.

fourth, maintenance. like any other turbo and/or performance car. you will need to do more maintenance than you would with the tc.

i would list the positives, but i will be late for work

Hmm, evo or tC? Sorry, but that's a no-brainer. Evo's are pretty insane.

ditto, pretty much word 4 word -- pending what you mean by "new breed".

I still plan on keeping th tC as a daily though.

I'd wait because you are young and you are into modding you don't want to get a car, and want to mod, but you cannot because of the cost of fuel, insurance, and other bills. I think waiting a bit so you have a bit of a bank roll when make you a lot happier in the long run. Good luck with whatever you do decide to do.

let me put it this way....i pay $150 a month for insurance on the tC in New Jersey(which is low...horrible i know). If i got an evo, being a 20 year old male...i would be paying $337/month....dude save your money and get a turbo...much cheaper in the long run...IMO

Yea...i figured that I wouldn't be able to maintain the EVO. insurance is crazy! I will be able to afford car payments and gas, but insurance is just to crazy every month. Also, if anything goes wrong with the EVO, and is not covered under warranty, I'd be F-ed!

yup that's right, that's if you bought the evo used and the first owner modified it or didn't follow the break in instructions. good choice bro.don't know if i already post this but i would recommend getting a quote at AIG auto insurance if you have it in CAlifornia. If your insurance in your TC is still high.

i dont think so.
dont evos run 19psi stock?! theres a guy in westminster who runs 32 on his stock turbo and the basic bolt ons. (440awhp dyno proven). with 1000 bucks you can make an evo really quick, i think youd have to put like 3 grand in the srt4 to match it

i mean if the evo is stock and you put some in the str4 then yeah duh. but that goes back to the RSX thread. with a little money you can make a tC a lot faster.

see where im comming from?
