Would you recommend the TC for me?
I am one of those people who had the chance to choose the tC all over again.
Let me just say my .02. I totaled my 06 tC (Rolled it) and I walked away unharmed. For safety, I trust this car with my life. It has saved my life.
I love all of the features. There is no other car on the market that can even come close to comparing with the tC. I first looked into the Mazda 3, and for all the options I wanted, it was going to be about 4G more... and it still didn't have all the features as the tC.
Reliability - I've never once had a problem. Yeah, so I had a recall and a few rattles. So what?
MPG - My old tC was an auto and I actually got horrible gas mileage from it. averaged about 22 city/highway. I even have it marked down on my paper that the lowest I actually went (city) was 18. And yes, I know how to calculate gas mileage. ::rolls eyes::
So after I totaled my car, I had the choice of getting something else. But, to be totally honest with you, I didn't want anything else. I wanted another tC. I have my reasons, once you buy the car - you'll have yours, too.
I got a manual this time. It still amazes me in every aspect, just like the old one, BUT, I get incredibly good gas mileage from it. I recently did a short road-trip on the highway and got 39 mpg. Sure beats 26 in the automatic.
And traffic... I live in Phoenix. A red light every half mile. I get around fine. I made the right choice in transmission.
I suggest manual for you. And I definitely recommend the tC. it gets 5 stars from me... Plus it's affordable, fun to mod, and has been (for me) a great opportunity to meet some really cool people.

IF you got some decent amount of money,,, i suggest you not to get one. its a nice car yes and i own one but am trading it in for 2007 dodge RAM diesel.
its cheap, semi fast, good mpg, and everyone is talking about it but it kinda put you in the bottom of the foodchain compare to the 350z, future skyline, G35, etc..

I LOVE my tC, and would buy another in an instant. I'm a 20-something chick and was looking to purchase my first car when the Scions caught my eye. I had a set budget, and wanted to get the "most bang for the buck". I researched for 6 months to a year or so, and test drove everything from the Civic and Accord, to the Acura RSX, to a 300 series BMW...and in the end, the Scion made the most sense.
I drive about 50 miles a day (to and from work, city & Highway) and average 27-29MPG regularly... I also fill my tank with the highest octane I can locate, so the "premium" gas probably helps. I was also really interested in getting as much "standard" from the factory as possible, and the tC came with the most straight from the factory as compared to the 06 Civic or RSX...I won't even get into the last Celica or the Eclipse (piece of junk!).
As for rattles, I've narrowed that down to the latch on my trunk, and it's really not all that noisy/distracting or detracting enough not to buy this car.
I was hesitant to go with the tC at first, because of the back-seat space and because this car only has two doors. I plan to keep it for a while, and was worried about space and convenience...no need to worry. The back seat is spacious (the seats recline!) and you can do just about any typical errand easily between the two doors and the hatch. My husband and I fish, and we fit a trolling motor, inflatable 4 person boat, marine battery, tackle box, life jackets, and two polls all comfortably into my tC "trunk"...with one back seat down.
Also, this is a really easy car to customize...if you ever wanted to. My husband did professional car-audio installation and competitions for years, and says that this is a very good car to work with...electronically speaking. (We are in the process of putting in a removable sub into the trunk area.)
It's quite a decision, and even though the BMW had more kick to it, I couldn't pass up getting a new car, made by Toyota (with the Camry engine) and a Warrantee, over a used (perhaps nicer) car, which may or may not cost me a fortune down the road in repairs.
The Sunroof rocks! And the Moon roof is awesome! Very fun to drive, and safe on snowy roads. Also, I take a lot of road-trips, and the driver's seat is very comfortable for those 6-8 hour tours. The last thing I can add would be that if you're thinking of getting a rear spoiler, it's easily done at the dealer (I have the pedistal on mine).
Good luck, test drive EVERY car that you're considering, and happy be-lated Bday.
Cheers, tC Lady
