Yeah man. It is all cool. We have all done the same stuff.

I charged over a $1000 on my credit card on fixing my old car and an additional $700 in cash on my old car (A little over $1700 in total). And then 3 weeks later some dumb B!@# caused me to total my car and lose that money plus deal with her insurance company who wasn't giving me crap for my car.. They sent me a check for about $2,600 which stunk because I had a rental too for $500.

If you are looking for another shop, check out cartalk.com and type in your Zip Code under Mechanic Files to find rated repair shops near you. I did this when I was in NJ and found a great garage. Even told them I found them from cartalk.com and they said "You wouldn't believe that amount of people that come in here and tell us that."

But don't beat yourself up over it.

I've already had Toyota do the repairs. I have my car back now, no more "grinding" sound on left turns or "bumpy ride". I tested on the highway and it's great. I don't feel like the tranny will drop out anymore, lol. I was just frustrated at loosing that money because I let the repair go and I got a bit sarcastic.

I dropped the car off at 9:00 a.m. yesterday and picked it up at 5:00 p.m. the same day. Got to drive a sweet, orange Matrix with satellite radio and a JBL system, awesome! According to the paperwork, the repairs should've cost a little over $1,800.00, and I paid $1,175.00 tax included). The tech did not charge for labor for the axle replacement and I got a free rental which is essentially a loner car so thats not a big deal.

So, all is well now except for regular maintenance.

That is nice that they sort of lessened the blow on the cost and brought the price down. And a loner, Nice. Looks like it all worked out for the best.

Glade you got the problem fixed. Plus, now you know your car is safe and in good shape.

Yeah, it was cool that they took some money off. The tech felt bad that he found another problem after I agreed to a price, so he knocked off labor on the axle.

I do have a axle nut socket I'm never going to use again if anyone is interested, $20.00. I'm in Dallas, Texas. Send a message if anyone WTB.

glad it's all smooth again.

It's cool....I'll list the repairs again:

1. Hub assembly replacement - it was shot
2. Bearing for hub assembly replaced - it was also shot
3. Driver's side axle replaced - cross threaded nut & it was loose and damaged
4. Front rotors turned - they were warped
5. Front brake pads replaced - they were worn down

rental car $35.00 for free.

Toyota Total: $1,871.60 I paid: $1,175.00
