So I'm looking to replace my front left axle, looking around online some websites list a different part for MT or AT, so I looked in the repair manual, and from their illustration it looks like the only difference is the AT had a damper on the shaft and the MT does not.
I called Toyota and they confirmed that there is 2 different part numbers, but he couldn't tell me what then difference was. So the places online where I see only 1 part and doesn't list Auto or Manual, are they just like selling the AT version hoping u have AT?
I'm in the process of doing the auto to manual swap and from what I've researched, the auto ones will work. I I'll be replacing both axles eventually. Carid has them for about 60 left and 60 right.
Well ok, I can tell you that if will fit and it will work. But the thing is, I replaced that axle a couple months ago with one I got from a junk yard, and I'm pretty sure it came from an auto (my car is manual) and just a month or 2 later that axle is failing, so I was wondering if they were different somehow and that caused it to fail so soon? Or if maybe I just got an axle with high miles that was already on its way out, or if I maybe damaged it during installation or what the deal was.
Maybe damaged boot? Or too many miles? I'll only have the auto axles for a little bit. If they fail before replacing them, I'll make sure to post it on here. My current ones have 249,000 but still work. The dampener had seen better days tho...
