please don't tell me your cabin sounds exactly the same on acceleration..i will cry. its not god awful.about 30% volume on the radio drowns it out.

do you guys experience that?
yup. a little volume gets rid of everything....

how ever when its still cold outside...no matter how long i heat the car up the first few blocks my dampner makes a ton of noise since its so cold out.

ohh. i don't have that. i plan to do a write-up for you guys on a proper install with pics i took.
i've got no rattlle at all...just the engine noise amplified..which i would expect from a piece of metal joined from the engine mount to the strut.

Mine's installed correctly (except maybe the lack of Dynamat ). The rattle is normal when the damper is cold and it goes away after a few minutes of driving.

As for engine noise in the cabin, I like it...sounds racy.

Mine rattles a little bit but not to bad. I like the sound especially when it is mixed with the intake and exhaust. The dampner is quiet after 3rd gear for me..

Mine doesn't rattle at all. Thats really strange that you guys are experiencing that. I'd check the install. The worst noise is when its 30 degrees out and it has to warm up. The noise thats transfered to the cabin used to be loud, but now that it's broken in, it has quieted down and i've gotten used to it anyway. I used dynamat but that only helps to eliminate vibration - the sound is the same w/ or w/o

The elastomer shrinks when its cold so if you are on a tight setting the cold wont be as much of an issue. Also if you want to rid you car of noise and vibration get heim joints with urethane in them to isolate the fequency that makes the noise in cabin. Or you can isolate the bracket using rubber undercoating on the bottom of the strut bracket. Also use the rubber coating where the etd attaches to the bracket. 4.99 for a can and no dynamat on your car

I had, had my engine damper collecting dust in my garage cause it sounded horrible then I was reading more about it on this thread... So today I installed it again and no rattle and no dynamat! I even use to have dynamat all over the strut but it didnt help at all so I took all of it out even the dynamat. It's all about making sure the o ring is in the right spots... Properly is bolt-bracket-metal washer-oring-dampener-nut and tighten up!

Now... I'f I tighten the damper to a harder setting, will it begin to rattle? I'm not sure but I think the damper is already on medium stiffness... how to you tell for sure?

where do you get urethane helm joints?

lol wtf is that?

and...

the "ton of noise" i reffered to isnt really a rattle or really an engine drone...its more of the gas shock being so cold that it doesnt like to move at all and it makes a really wierd cracking noise...i just figured it to be the dampner itself being really cold...

never did it once to me in the summer...

they are the spherical joints on either end. i did some looking and i could source the polyurethane, but i'm not sure abot taking the damper apart. plus i am not yet convinced that will clear up the issue. i have a rubber spacer between the joint and the bracket now..so that should be an adequate buffer.
anyway, i suppose the strut end could be unscrewed, but i dont know about the plunger end...

and i think if you guys get cracking or rattle you have improper installs.

No I used to work at Ingalls the vibration and noise is common due to the product having quality compromisied for sales. The issues could all be removed but Ingalls wont due to money involved...thats why I dont have mine anymore its in the trash along with the rear bar from them

so is it fairly simple for me to swap the rod ends? or do i compromise something in the guts of the plunger by unscrewing them?

I just deal with the noise. And I know I installed the ETD correctly. Like others have said, I doesn't happen during the summer (when the damper doesn't get really cold), so I think it's just a property of the device. Think thermal expansion, but in reverse.

i don't have any rattling but it does pop or crack or whatever you wanna call it when it's cold out. and it does seem louder the colder it is. but i know it's doing it's job so i don't care. the sound it makes is cool. i just can't wait to hear it along with an intake.

You dont get a noise when you first start up the car and maybe through your first couple shifts? Like Boxman said, it sounds like the polymer is near frozen inside and makes lots of noise when under 40 degrees until it warms up. You dont get that pop when the car first starts?
