The gold washer goes on top of the hex nut up top, not where the bolt goes:

This following picture is incorrect:

Careful....I asked the mods or thread maker previously to fix the error in the DIY. The gold washer DOES NOT GO where the DIY says to put it. Look at and follow the Ingalls instructions. Those are correct. Very important. The diy should be changed so people dont make this mistake
Crap! I thought I was looking at both of them saying the same thing. I'll have to change it. I did get it on and it was awesome. The shifts were nice and smooth and it handled the turbo great (I highly recommend for turbos, it makes a world of difference). After driving for about 15 miles I finally started to hear the noise. After about 40 miles of driving today I noticed it started to sound like a diesel truck. I'm gonna look at it over the weekend and fix it. I may also get new rubber washers cuz the one on the top is smashed and sticking out. All in all it's well worth it for a turbo.

hmm. thats too bad. i hope they knew how valuable you've been over here getting people to buy them and have the confidence to install them knowing that you were there to help with any issue. If not, sucks for them - bigtime!

The damper moves side to side and causes the metal damper to hit with the metal bracket and makes a lot of the rattle, the rubber washer stops the rattle. I'll try to get some pics later today.

It shouldn't be moving side to side. Make sure that everything is torqued down nice and tight. I also tried using one of the rubber washers like that initially, but when I put torque on the bolt, the rubber washer basically just squeezed out of there. So make sure its nice and tight

I didn't use a rubber O-ring, it was a rubber washer and didn't squeeze out. I'll shoot a video of what I mean by side to side. I'm going to do it right now. Everything is nice and tight.

My point was that you actually worked for them when you denied it.

hence, "I told you so."

How much do you like your stiffy now?

Ok, here's some video's of what I was talking about.

Where I put it and what I meant by "side to side" I should have said twist.

Here's the car running and no rattle. I had no rattle when I first installed the ETD but after driving around for the day it started. I put the rubber washer on Saturday morning and drove it all weekend and today and this video shows it's still not rattling.

Video might take a few minutes until you can view it.

Awesome, glad to hear that it worked for ya! Those washers that you got are MUCH better for the stiffy than the o-rings. it should just come with those.

And btw - nice turbo!! love that sound!

The stiffy is still an excellent product and I will have it on my car until I sell the Tc.

Excellent because a piece of dynamatt is required to shut it up? Or a goldwasher for..I don't even know what. You guys have so many band-aids for the band-aid itself. Poly urethane motormounts are up for sale for the tC.

Just a quick review. Today was the first time that I really launched the car with the stiffy on. I had to make a real quick U-turn with cars coming fast in a 55mph zone and I only had a small openning. Anyway, I took off hard in first gear and then into second and third. I couldn't believe how stable the car was and how fast I got up to speed. It's partly due to handling (which I have some upgrades) and partly due to my new toyo proxes 4 tires (which I highly recommend), but the stiffy kept the car real stable and firmly on the ground as I made that move. In fact, the car behind me hit his brakes b/c he thought he would have to, but actually didn't have to. I'm impressed

Downside: it's in the mid 30s in NY today and the noises it makes at startup are just horrific, but they go away
