Default Stuck strut bolts

I got the TRD springs for christmas, among other car parts, and I attempted to put them on today. Everything was fine until it came to the 2 big strut bolts that attach to the A-arm. (that right?)

I have a 2 gallon compressor than can do 120 PSI. I tried using an impact drill on the highest setting and no dice. PB Blaster did not do anything either. I am at a loss. the torque specs for the bolts are 177 lb/ft and even cheap drills do better than double that. I was at it for a good time too.

Ideas? Thanks.

Spray the bolts with some wd40 and try it again. I had no problem with mine and I used a breaker bar to get the bolts loose. Just a hint for the re-installation....dont torque them back to 177ft/lbs. It is unecessary. I know im prolly gonna get flamed for saying that but ive strip'd the two rear strut bolts cause I torqued them to spec too many times. My mechanic told me 75lbs is good for the rear and the front should be a bit more since the bolt is bigger. 177ft/lbs is just overkill for me. Good Luck!

don't use air tools for th front or the rear.. most of the time unless you have something that has about 500ft.lbs of pressure.. it wont move it.. got to the autozone or you local parts store and get a breaker bar the longer the better.. if that doesn't do the job.. then you might want to ask for a gym membership for next x-mas

Thanks! I bought a breaker bar and still could not get the bolt to move. I looked in my garage for a pole and found a 2-2.5 foot to use and it was PERFECT. It was a gas pipe that had quarter inch walls and the hole was the perfect size for the breaker bar. My regular ratchet handle was not small enough. It was like the pole was meant for the breaker bar I got.

Success! The front springs are done and I will take on the rear tomorrow.

Not true. I have a 180 ft/lb pneumatic impact. Removed and replaced two set of springs on my car (plus many others) without any fuss. Although the two large lower strut mount bolts up front did give it a little bit of a struggle at first, after a second or two of full 120 psi they came loose.
