Default New tires...

I am going to be needing new tires soon(probably june or july) and need some help selecting them. I dont want the best/most expensive tires out there. I am gonna put the new set on the factory rims because I do not wanna alter the car too much before the warranty is over with. I have heard Kumho makes a fairly decent, inexpensive tire. Suggestions?

I have Kumho ecsta asx and love them so far. Very cheap but still have great traction and good tire thread rating.

That's what I've been looking at as well. Both are under $90 per tire.

Toyo Proxes4, best bang for the buck. but I'd say it's the best out there, and not that expensive, excellent dry/wet grip, excellent steering feel, excellent ride/quiet/braking. Just what you're looking for!

Well let me tell you differently. My rear tires (rotated from the front) are bald. I don't burn out, and don't go around sliding either, but I am fairly aggressive. My driving is spirited at best, and these tires have lost a signifcant amount of tread in 7000 miles.
My current front pair is fine though, for now.

I'd still say: buy a different tire. I'm getting Proxes next.

No dont get fz-4's. get either ecsta asx's or proxes 4s. the 4s are a better tire, but the asx's still offer great performance at an inexpensive price.

Nope the FZ-4 are pretty sad. No comparison to the Proxes4 other than it also is called Proxes. The FZ-4 is an okay tire, but mediocre. Definitely don't want that on your tC.

Proxes4 is what you want to ask for.. Now practice with me, saying out loud.. "Proxes4.. yes tire shop person I want Proxes4.. Yes Proxes4" Once you get that perfected, you'll be a satisfied tC owner :D

Anybody use them in the snow? I have a 40 minute commute and I'm in the snow belt. I have been debating getting a dedicated winter tire ( Blizzaks, prolly ) and something for the other 3 seasons. My other option is a decent all weather set, maybe Avons. All I know is the stock Potenzas need to go.

This past winter I drove through the snow we received in michigan and it was fine with the Proxes4. It was decent, and got me home safely. I had to take my time, but they worked fine in snow. Anything above 4 inches they began to lose traction. At that point Blizzaks would be the answer, definitely.

But for an all-season tire I was satisfied with the snow performance of the proxes4. all around, this is a great tire.

If you want SUPERIOR traction for snow, then of course the Blizzaks would be the best for that! No all-season can touch the blizzaks when it comes to snow

Just got a set of Yokohama YK520 for my lady's 2004 TSX. She really likes them so far. They have a treadwear rating of 520, are all season, and they handle very nicely. We got them for $494 installed for 225/50/17 tires.
