1156 to 1157 Front Turn Signal Conversion
Hey guys! I just bought my 2014 tC a few days ago, and am really excited to be a part of this community!
That aside, I have been looking into replacing the different lights with LEDs, notably the front turn signals. The owner's manual says the front turn signals use an 1156 socket, but should I replace them, I would like to do a switchback (see first 30 seconds of below)
which only come in 1157 sockets.
Now, everything I have read says that you can't install an 1156 bulb in an 1157 socket, and vice versa. But, I am seeing the possibility of wiring up an 1157 socket as an option. Has anyone tried this?
As I am leasing the car (first new car), I would prefer not to cut into/splice any factory wires, though I am comfortable doing so and should not have any problems when I go to return the car in a few years, so adapters would be preferable, though I have not been able to find any online.
I am really interested to know if anyone has done this, how it worked out, and if they needed items such as resistors to simulate a larger amp load to prevent the Hyper Blinking situation I have been reading about.
Thanks for your help guys!

Yes buy the 1157 sockets, snip the old wires, solder new ones with heat shrink.
Hook up of three wires is pretty easy. Ground to ground. Original positive to positive for yellow side. Grab a positive off the drl for white side of bulb.
Works great

None of this is difficult, and completely reversible.
