the issue isn't the rubber ring, the bulb came out of the metal part (with the three tabs that locks into the housing) and melted a part of the plastic which allows me to put and lock the bulb in place

Hate to say it but from looking at all your pics it looks like you are going to need new housings and new hids. Also not sure if DDM is going to cover this i can bet they will claim it was not installed properly, and throw up their hands.

Think there was a miss understanding some where my bulbs aren't from DDM I was wondering if they are good quality bulbs because i'm looking for replacements (trying to see what you guys went with and if they are holding up well). But yeah I will have to purchase a new housing unfortunately

Thats not a very good bulb for the base to actually come out of it. We are a sponsor here so just wanted to chime in and say that we do sell replacement bulbs. In the 5+ years we have been selling HIDs, I have not seen that happen before lol.

use code "mengsta" for free shipping within the continental United States

Hello everyone, sorry for such a noobie question but what is the different between 35W and 55W, besides life spin? Im thinking of getting Morimoto elite HID kit, it is good BTW? Heard not realy good replies about DDM kit. And some people also recommened Volt HID Digital kit.

thnx for replies in advance.

First off 35 vs 55, the 55 will be brighter. Second with the 55 watt the "color" or K rating will be slightly off compared to the 35 watt kits. A 35 watt 6000k will have a bluer color then a 55watt 6000k since its a higher wattage it tends to wash out the color of the bulbs. Second Morimoto is good stuff. I personally have ran Meng HIDs (super soild product and great support) and DDM tuning (crappy customer service but cheap prices) Right now im running 55 watt 6000k for my highs and lows and 35 watt 3000k for my fogs. I have had one ballast fail and out of all 6 that i currently have installed. That being said pick and choose your battles, cheap product comes at a price and that may being with out a head light for 2 weeks while the new ballast gets shipped in from china.

Invest the money on products from Theretrofitsource
Their bulbs are brighter than your generic DDM and ebay $15 ones
I've been through so many brands and right now I am using
TRS products. Their bulbs match in color, kelvin color is exact, and the capsule doesn't
Cause and hot spots or uneven cutoff on our projectors.
DDM is crap, I've went through 3 kits and they all died or had flickering issues.

Btw. I haven't used 55w ballast, I don't really need so much light since I live
In Miami where there is a lot of night light.

exactly what im going to be doing, i got a 55w kit from DDM, 4500k temp which looked more 5000k to be honest and the ballast is already going and the one bulb is already burning out very slowly and im going to get the 55w 5000k kit or 4300k cant decide yet from TRS because im tired of DDM's ____ pour customer service and telling me its my fault their crap product is failing and they refuse to honor their warranty

With my experience in the past year and a half, spend the money for quality, DDM has been nothing but a disappointment for me and if you have a problem their customer service is useless

DDM is hit or miss. My 55w DDM kit lasted almost 3 years. For $40, I'd say it's not a bad deal.

I just switched to a D2S Morimoto kit (35w 5000k) and they have been great so far. Here are a few things I've noticed when compared to DDM.

- Build quality: DDM ballasts are hollow and tinny sounding. I was holding the two of them together by their cords after removing them from my car and they sounded like cow bells when they hit together. My 'Moto ballasts are slightly smaller and have a nice solid construction with good quality braided cords.

- Silent operation: DDM ballasts have this weird screaming noise that come from them when they operate. 'Moto ballasts are silent.

- Warmup time: Unfortunately, warmup time seems to be about the same between the two.

- Light output intensity: My 35w 5000k 'Moto set is every bit as intense as my 55w 4500k DDM set...maybe more.

- Light output color: The 'Moto bulb colors are accurate. My 35w 5000k bulbs are the purest of pure white. No hint of any other color (that is, until you get to the sweet blue/purple cutoff created by my RX350 projectors :D ). I also own a set of 4300k H11 'Moto bulbs that I use in combination with 35w DDM ballasts for my fogs and they produce a nice daylight-colored light.

I agree with Delorean's opinion that the 55w 4500k DDM set looks more like 5000k.

my 2 cents. i have ddm 55w kit lows (with harness), 35w highs and 35w fogs (also with harnes) on my truck. out of the three sets ive only needed to repalce a bulb after over 4 years. on the car ive been running ddm 35w kit for over a year still with no issues. planning on picking up a 55w kit here after the holidays to replace the 35w. only time i dealt with there customer service was to replaces that one bulb and that went smoothly seeing as how there stuff has the lifetime warranty.

Hey guys I need some help out here! I have a 2014 scion tC and bought some TRS mini h1 6.0 projectors because I really hate my halogen projectors that come stock. I heard the 2014 model comes with 2.5 inch projector lenses so I went with this h1 minis because they are 2.5 and costumer service at TRS told me those were fine. Does any one know if I am going to have to do some mods to my headlights or are they going to go in right on with no issues?

First you have to open the headlights, Obviously. I'm sure the fitment won't be a problem but you will have to make sure the mounting brackets and screws can be reused when swapping the projectors. I think you're the first one doing a retrofit on a 2014.
