Since your bulbs don't have any blue once warm, they are functioning fine...replacing them with another brand 5000k bulb will not yield any difference. Maybe you were hoping for a 6000k color?

And having HIDs as our high beams is not a good idea for two reasons:
1. High beams provide extra light that you need on-demand. Since HIDs take a bit to warm up, they can't give you that extra light exactly when you need it. By the time they warm up, you will probably have to turn them right back off due to oncoming traffic.

2. The intermittent on/off operation that is consistent with high-beams will greatly reduce the life of the ballasts.

The factory halogen high beams are more than sufficient. If you still want to try to squeeze every lumen out of them, grab a pair of Sylvania SilverStar Ultras.
Alright man thanks for the tips, I found out that the guy sent my the wrong bulbs for the h11 kits, and they were only 4000k bulbs. Smh I thought I was just bad at wiring or some thing. I appreciate the help though :D

Sorry about the crappy I phone pics, but I finally received my proper HID bulbs, and figured I would bolt my ballast in place when I put the new bulbs in, these are my mounting locations:

After dealing with eBay HID kits that have crappy bulbs/ballasts that create movement in the beam pattern, I decided to buy a kit from The Retrofit Source.
I just received and installed my Morimoto H11 35W 4300K kit with the heavy duty relay, and the lights do some strange pulsing thing. They don't completely flicker and turn on/off, but it's not a steady beam. Wtf?! Does anyone know if this is normal? Is there a break-in period that I'm unaware of? I'm starting to think I should just stick with the halogens...

I have purchased many HID kits from theretrofitsource.com and have only had a flickering problem once with only one side. The problem was the ballast.

Give the retrofit source a call. They will answer quickly and be happy to spend as much time with you as you need to fix the problem. They sent me a new ballast that came 2 days after I ended the call with them. Their HID hardware is top notch! Give them a call!

Edit: The hid kit in my tC has passed the 2 year old mark and still no problems AT ALL. Bought from the retrofit source (Morimoto brand)

Yeah the only problem is that both sides were doing it. Maybe I just lucked out and happened to get the only 2 faulty ballasts in their entire warehouse haha.

Call The Retrofit Source. They can help you troubleshoot. Check your ground connection and battery connection. You turn the lights on AFTER the engine is started, right?

I took a quick video and e-mailed them about it. And yes, I did turn the lights on after the engine was started.

Guys just a quick tip.
When buying any HID kit always stick to AC kits and avoid DC kits
here is a picture that explains the diff. followed by the link.

http://www.mydepots.com/the-truth-you-must-know

Stick to 35w ballast with 4300k bulbs for best illumination.
4300k and even 5000K will give you the best light output on the road.
I have tried almost every color bulb out there and most of the color ones have gone in the garbage because they simply suck.
I noticed the TC2 projectors produce a nice white/blue/violet flicker with 5,000k bulbs just like some BMWs and Acuras. They are not THE BEST projectors but they do a good job keeping a good beam pattern.

So TRS got back to me, and the 'pulsating' light is apparently normal within the 30-50 hour break-in time for the bulbs to reach their full brightness/temperature color.

+1 for AC digital kits. These are the only kits we sell. The majority of kits for sale, especially the lower generic priced kits, are all DC kits. We know first hand how cheap the wholesale cost are on DC kits, but we choose to not sell them. AC ballasts are just more reliable in every way. The light output is not only more steady but also produces a cooler light output. You will notice a 6000K DC kit will appear more, compared to a 6000K AC kit which is a very cool crystal white.

I just recently changed my halogen bulbs to 6000k HIDs. After doing some research, I'm second guessing my decision.

From what I understand, replacing a halogen bulb for a HID one is completely illegal because of altered beam pattern and safety concerns. First, should i even worry about getting pulled over and receiving a ticket for the new bulbs, despite them being completely "illegal"? Has anyone known or heard someone receiving legal action against them because of the HIDs? Second, exactly how "unsafe" are these bulbs?

I want to mod my '13 tC but it seems to me that some of the looks I'm going for are entirely illegal (i.e., 35% front tinted windows). It is disappointing. I don't want to risk getting pulled over but I do want to mod the car

I originally converted to HIDs because I like the luxury look of the brighter lights. However, I was a bit disappointed when I drove with them on the first night because the 6000k bulbs I bought have a blue tint to them. I was going more for a bright crystal white to replace the stock yellow hue.

Are there other legal options to achieving this "paper white" luxury look, such as replacing my current yellowed halogens for brighter whiter halogens?

I have attached links of the new bulbs.

Any advice is appreciated, thanks.

I don't think you'd get pulled over unless you're blinding the cop. If you're housing is a reflector housing, I highly suggest a projector. The projector is what gives you that blueish high end look, not so much the actual bulb color. As for the color being too blueish for you, I had that same problem with lower quality HID bulbs. Lower quality bulbs don't follow the kelvin scale very well.

OEM bulbs use 4300k. With 5000k, you should get a similar color to that crystal white that you're going for. I'd suggest purchasing your bulbs from www.theretrofitsource.com I've tried a few other vendors, but TRS is the best by far in terms of a quality product.

Hey guys, I'm trying to find a new set of HID's because my previous set decided to melt on me (melt the actual headlight housing) Probable came out from the mechanical vibrations. For those of you who went through DDM Tuning What kind of bulb types did you go with? And for those of you who didn't go through DDM Tuning, what did you guys go with? From Canada btw

Literally flip that rubber ring and the bulbs will fit perfectly snug in the housing
