Default What kind of bulbs should I get for my headlights?

I don't like the bulbs that come with the scion tc2, I want them to look like the ones that come on stock Acuras and stuff, I don't want HID's and blue and purple lights that blind everyone in front of me, Just lights that are not yellow, I want them to be white. That's all! and I have no idea what to buy, I do want to be able to see WELL at night! So basically the same amount of brightness as my lights, but different color. What can I buy?

U just want halogen bulbs, btw we have projectors so our headlights have the propercutoff meaning hids in our cars don't blind people. It's kids with older cars that throw hids in that have those annoying bright lights that blind u on the road.

thank you! and wait so if I put an HID kit in my car it won't go all crazy and blind people and give me a ticket in the rain? what does having projectors in headlights exactly mean if I may ask

You should put HID's on your outter lights and change your high beam inner lights to something like Sylvania SilverStar bulbs.

The SilverStars are somewhat white and are halogen so it's just an easy bulb swap.

You could put H11 SilverStars but why not just go with HID? 5000k color is white

Projector headlights means that regardless of what bulb is inside the beams will always be aimed a certain way.
Non projector lights like on a tC1 and civic just send the beams in any direction which results in blinding other drivers if you change the standard bulb.

Stick with 4300K HID bulbs (Morimoto), it's closer to what you have now and you will need to push the squirrel spotter down a little otherwise you will glare oncoming drivers.

I just put the new sylvania zxe bulbs, in my low beams and fogs, looks great, pure white color and has a further reach then the standard bulbs did.

DDM Tuning 5000k will do you just fine. cost of everything plus shipping will be a few bucks cheaper than silverstar ultras. i would recommend silverstar ultras for your high beams as well so you will have visibility for miles

FYI their is such a thing as halogen projectors. Just because you have projectors does NOT mean you will get a proper HID setup with just a throw on kit. You will still need a retrofit in order to do a proper HID setup.

I suggest on the 4300K HID bulbs with the squirrels spotter pushed if you don't plan on baking the headlights open to do a proper HID projector retrofit. Anything above 4300K will glare more in a Halogen projector. 35W Ballasts max, 50W you will be the chrome inside the reflector bowls.

Mods can be done with the stock halogen projectors to better the output, here's a link to things I've done. http://s1233.photobucket.com/albums/...%20Headlights/

TC2 should have the same Koito Halogen projectors.

So I'm looking at the DDM hid kit, and they look like a pretty good deal, comes out around 50$ but I was talking to a friend and he said anything under 100$ on HID kit's is a waste of money because they will go bad after a while, is this true? should I not buy DDM?

most feedback on the forum is they are good kits... (i run them fwiw)

anything under $100 for an HID kit is a correct statement....for like maybe 5 years ago? now they are pretty cheap and still good quality

a bonus with the DDM kit is that the bulbs have a lifetime warranty on them..if they ever go bad, contact DDM, ship them back...they ship i new ones

the only gamble is having good ballasts..which is the case with just about any brand. DDM may not have the best customer service...but if u ever have problems and dont mind dealing with multiple calling/email if u need help...then their kits are well worth it

Can't go wrong with this kit...TRS has superior customer service and you can always get one of them on the phone.

I started with the DDM kit, not bad at all, the bulb alignment was a big problem though, switched to Morimoto bulbs never looked back.
As far as the lifetime warranty on the bulbs, you would never use them for a lifetime, the bulbs won't burnout, the light output diminishes and changes color overtime as the salts age.

I am pretty sure I have already said this 100 times over several forums haha but TRS is the way to go for any type of HID mod.
