Default Engine cover missing..

My 2011 Scion tC has 15,000 miles on it. The car has been out of my sight 3 times for oil changes. I don't pop the hood much so I was surprised when I did recently and noticed that my engine cover is now gone.
I can't believe that someone working at an auto repair shop would take it. I'm not even sure how long its been missing. From now on I am going to check my car thoroughly after its serviced.

$125 new from Sparks....ouch.

Password JDM makes a carbon fiber one for the tC as well, but it's almost twice the price of the OEM plastic one.

I looked on ebay, no bargains there either.
Try a junkyard?

I'd rather have an OEM one and paint it what ever color I like, gonna try a junkyard soon and hope an idiot totaled their car that had one haha

Doesn't matter to me. I'd never try to show my engine off. Embarrassingly weak.

Only people who'd see under my good is Toyota and me.

Ironically, a lot of Gen1 tC owners took off the plastic cover and polished or powder coated the valve cover - I did both.
Plenty of Gen1 plastic covers floating around, too bad it won't fit the 2011.

I don't care too much for my engine bay. If I was turbo'd then I'd make it look sexy. But as of now it's lease of my goals haha but all chrome is nice

First generation 'spec' editions did not have plastic valve covers. I have to admit the plastic cover looks better than the rough aluminum casting. On the other hand, the plastic cover traps heat and the coil wire locking clips eventually break. My original clips are 14 years old and knock on wood, still intact.

These plastic covers are pointless. All they do is prevent sensitive people with high anxiety from freaking out if they were see how many individual items are attached onto the engine. One of my cars is a Lexus. It had 5 covers in the engine compartment! First thing I did when I bought the Lexus was remove all of the covers. Why would you want to trap all that heat on the engine? One of the stupidest things is the insulated battery box. Like really, batteries get hot, it's the nature of their job. Why would you not want the battery to cool off as soon as possible when the vehicle comes to a rest? I mean, if the battery box is there as a barrier to prevent the engine heat from heating up the battery, it's worthless once the radiant temperature of the engine has soaked into the battery box.

Chrysler, BMW, Mercedes Benz got it right when they moved the battery completely out of the engine compartment. Naked battery in ugly locations.

Toyota got it right when they moved the battery up near the bottom of the windshield.
