Default Found a new Short Throw Shift Kit similar to TRD or Supertek...

Hey y'all!

While checking eBay again for a cheaper TRD or Supertek short throw kit, I stumbled across this "MWR" (monkeywrench_racing on eBay) short throw kit that looks awfully similar to the TRD/Supertek style,
and at $79 seems like a good deal! (assuming the material/build quality is comparable) The seller claims 25% throw reduction, which is a little less than the claimed 30% of the TRD kit.

Here is the link.

What do y'all think?

For that price I'd just go with the TRD. The Supertek was awesome because you could get it for like $30.

I ended up going with the MWR option, after seeing the seller has been approved by Derrick Aquino as a reputable source.

It should be here by this weekend, so I will report back on the build quality

So how's the quality of that kit?

Quality is solid! Materials seem very good, and installation was very easy. It goes on the same way as the TRD kit of course so the instructions carry over. The MWR kit has some differences in shape,
I am not sure if they are just aesthetic choices or deliberate changes to improve the strength of the bracket. I read about one or two people who had a piece break on them but it can be fixed/prevented with a worm clamp.
Derrick Aquino made a video about this solution.

Overall I am very happy with this kit, for the price it is a no brainer over the TRD one.

Almost 4 month update on this short throw kit:

It has held up perfectly so far! Absolutely no problems, cracks, etc.. Since Supertek is gone and the TRD kit is almost double the price, I believe that this is the new go-to for a tC2 short throw kit.

Again, here is the link!

So what you guys are saying, is the factory shifter throw is "too long"? Really? I guess if you're road racing at Watkins Glen, or slalom racing. Maybe even auto-crossing. But I don't know. I guess from driving Hurst, and Mr. Gasket 4 speed shifters, (and diesel pick-up, and stake bed stick shift vehicles), I don't find the factory Scion shifter too bad. I think I could find others areas to improve on, to spend my money. But hey, that's just me.

Personal preference eh? There's trade-off such as slightly higher lever-throw force. However, quicker snick-snick shifting makes for more fun in twisties! I've used the MWR short-shift kit on my MR2 for past 10-yrs now and it's been perfect!

I agree Danno, shifting is definitely fun. But when you're use-ta shifters like these.
(My wife's old 79 Formula T/A mongrel)

My old 73 T/A

My 83 6.2 Dually,

My old 69 FB drag car, (Mr. Gasket Vertical Gate,)

Some-how the Scion shifter doesn't seem so bad.
But I guess if that's all you've driven, any improvements are helpful.
